Have the overall numbers (players/supporters/helpers) at the club increased over the last few years with all the housing developments & people moving to the area?

Rodney's been at Willunga the last few years. Can't speak for the great man myself, but I don't think a return to Aldinga is likely in the near future.

Regarding the housing developments etc., it's hard to say. In how it's affected the senior team and supporters, I'd say minimal to not at all, which, when you consider how much Aldinga the suburb has grown, is disappointing, but on the other hand... I'm no sociologist or anything, but it seems to me that all the housing and such has sprung up virtually overnight, without any development of an actual community. (It is happening, but much more slowly.) Sorry, I'm not saying this very well, but I've got a shrieking toddler wiping his banana all through my hair right now and it's hard to concentrate. Bottom line is that I reckon a footy club depends to a great extent on the community around it, and vice versa, but there's communities and then there's a bunch of people moving down to Aldinga for the cheap housing and the coastal proximity. Which doesn't make them a dead loss by any means; it just makes me wonder how many of them even know our footy club exists.

Anyway, I think that there's been a lot more going on with the juniors. Just got to get the kids to stick around, keep playing the game as adults, build up a strong foundation. It would help if Aldinga had its own high school - Willunga's the closest, and a lot of the Aldinga boys end up playing for Willunga. (Which is fair enough. If you're a teenager and half your mates play for Willunga, which is a club that wins premierships, why wouldn't you want to play for them?) I do think that more could be done in the way of advertising the club to the locals. I've got a couple of ideas for that, which I want to bring up at the next AGM (haven't been to one of those yet but first time for everything).

I think Rodney is at Kennilworth this year Fisho, unfortunately getting people to the agm is always a struggle, might be afraid of being volunteered, hopefully more put their hand up next year

Aldingas school team won 5 out of 6 games today at the carnival at south Adelaide today. Top effort.
Heaps of talent at the school over the last 5 or so years with 2 carnival shields won but the majority of these kids no longer play or play at other clubs now. There lies the problem, retaining the talent

Yeh I may go down and watch them - should be a cracker. I'd have tipped Valleys to run roughshod over the Shoes but with their alleged injury woes it ought to be a close one.

Still think Valleys have enough depth to cover. Will make it interesting though. Given Porties form, I reckon they're a big chance to knock off Brighton, but I think our experience will come through and it will be Valley vs Bombers in an epic grand final match.

Yes, new coach has been appointed; I don't know how many have left/are staying, but expect most of last year's newcomers to pull on the boots for another year at least.
