I am sick of all these idiots blaming West for this "flooding" Were you at the game today Mr Fuller. BOTH teams have the same tactics. It is called the press, and every team does it!!!!!! If you actually watch the game closely you will see that every player will run forward of centre when the ball is in the opposition forward line.
Norwood are the kings of defensive football. They always play a 7 man defence. It makes for a crap spectacle BUT do not blame Westies for it. ALL teams play the press now. Maybe the rules need to be looked at. Maybe forward line players need to remain forward of centre all the time..........

Could get to a prelim but to winning the flag abit far away.

I totally agree whufc. We will have to be at our best but anything is possible. I am just so happy that we made it to the finals.

I suppose its everyone elses fault that West are the lowest scoring side in the comp.
Yes Norwood are defensively minded but atleast we have the ability to score when we have to.

If we were ordinary, then what does that make West then? How about saying that the Eagles played better then us on the day and stuff like that. Plus we had players out too like Parry.

There are different degrees of flooding or 'press' if you want to use that cute little term used in the AFL. Some sides add a one or two extra players down back. West are the only team where 100% of their players move into the opponents 50m arc. I do agree with you that norwood use a similar tactic (west and norwood are without a doubt offenders #1 and #2) but norwood at least keep a player up field that they can kick to. Result? Norwood can actually kick a reaonable score whilst restricting the opposition. I would have thought that with Fisher and a few other decent forwards that Collins would have the confidence to add a bit of offence to their game. Clearly he has none and quetsions his side's ability to score.

Yes I was at the game Wolf Pack. If you think what the eagles did was on par with what west were doing then I question whether you were at the game. Or perhaps you were at home in your loungeroom and couldn't see what was happening???What i saw was a fine example of the problem it causes

Collins flirting with form before the finals? Okay if any of his team had played finals previously but correct me if I am wrong but do any of them know the directions to AAMI other than those thugs who fronted the Tribunal?

Form an orderly line at Rooster training this week to ask Big Clint the way to Footy Park then?

Fantastic result to make the finals from an unbelieveably poor start to the season.

So happy that Cicca gets to play finals again. The Jack Oatey medallist is chomping at the bit to get at North.

Only thing better would have been if ethelton had beaten sturt and been in the five for saturday night.

Now to ask those bay fans for SANFL memberships next week.

We're gonna win it from Fifth!!

Ha ha - Clint is just following the path borne out by plenty of Norwood thugs who presented themselves way before him on the combined paved walk of shame laid out at Football Park and named in honour of Phil Carmen, John Wynne, Garry McIntosh etc. and all those other "fair and clean" players representing the grand old flag!

PS Topsy - we do a great version of your club song at the Taj (same applies to Sturt FC). Just let me know and I am happy to share the lyrics on here?

Plenty of times the Eagles had three loose defenders across the centre with no one behind them. Where were their West forwards? I can't remember seeing too many other teams with all their 18 behind their defensive centre square line.
Someone should tell Collins to look at history - nine out of ten times you need to kick at least 12-13 goals against a very good team to win a GF.
In what was largely a very forgettable game, the Eagles last quarter was very good, changing their tactics to run at the West flood rather than trying to keep possession of the footy.
