Apart from Ben Warren, Curtis Perrey, Tarak Redigolo, Ziggy Vitkunas, Nick Murphy, Darcy Hourigan, Jacob Crate and Josh Wilson, are there any other former GSFL players currently playing SANFL in the League or Reserves??

If not then Tim Boyd has played 13 reserves games for Centrals this year and Lachlan Button 16 league games for Glenelg.

Of those listed, Hourigan looks to be a reasonable chance of being drafted.

Maybe a little too early for a few of these but essentially Willunga top, then a battle between 2-6,7-8, and 9-10

I think experience will be the difference come finals time, so far alot of close games that could have gone either way.

Not too bad considering the year the league has had. Top four sorted, mainly Victor didn't go as well as I thought they would and Strath finally got their game going in the second half of the season.


I think this week will be the same in the grand final. Langhorne and Willunga both seem to know what to do in september, always having that edge on the other teams.
Yankalilla and Encounter will be interesting if Neale and Welsh are firing. If I was Yank I would suffocate those two to hope that will drop the rest of the Bay team. Then rely on Yank's depth being a little better than Bay (imo).

Top 4 correct well done( of course top 3 not in order)BAYS correct
Pongy had a shocker 5-10th
Strath strange year couldnt get the crew on the park enough 6-8th
Goolwa didnt eventuate for the coach or club after spending $$ 7-9th
Victor also had problems lost quite a few now sacked the coach 8-7th
Mclaren big improvers not sure what went wrong after mid year break 9-5th
Compass lost sh#t loads of talent all thought would be a bleak year for new coach 10-6th

On this whats the wash up on clubs who out performed or under performed for the year?

We improved compared to 2011 but after the list we put together and the start to season we had, you would suggest we under achieved in the end. Close losses under 2 goals were costly. I think we had 4 of them. Turn those around and you're 5th and playing a final. Was the most competitive bottom 5 we have seen for a while. Top clubs may think otherwise, but I dont think anyone would have taken games lightly. You would have to say that VH and Strath missing the finals were the disappointments and McLaren and Bays taking their spots were the improvers.

It has definitely been a tight season, alot of upsets with bottom sides beating the top sides throughout.
It is still showing with plenty thinking Bays will take Yank and Langhorne favourites for this week and in two weeks time, yet they were lucky to even get the second chance at the end of the minor round.

Definitely a big tick for the league overall in the A grade this year, it's been really competitive!

At the end of the minor round:
Willunga 17-1. Probably a better result than expected with only 1 loss to VH, especially as most don’t seem to think they are the best side.

Yankalilla 16-2. Again better than expected with only 2 losses especially after losing Jed Durdin in round 1. Have had the ability to replace the good players they lose with quality ins.

Creeks 12-6. Really under-performed - but being slow to get going and having injuries hasn’t cost them in the end as they still managed to secure the double chance - and Premierships are won in September.

Bays 10-8. To finish the minor round 4th is a really good result from where they’ve come from in recent years. Given the pre-season recruiting talk perhaps some might have expected more but I think they’ve done pretty well. Note 10 wins wouldn’t get you to 4th in many seasons. If they don’t win this weekend then they will finish with par.

McLaren 8-10. Having not made the 5 since 2005 and without a huge injection of players, this was a pretty good rise up the table. Great early form but have been pretty woeful since round 7. The fact they made finals on 8 wins is not their fault – rather a poor reflection on the sides below them and their inability to gain any momentum.

Compass 7-11. Given the player losses they sustained, most probably expected them to really struggle, so to finish 6th was a really solid effort.

Victor 6-12. With the large turnover of experience -> youth, they probably did better than I expected prior to round 1, but with a good start to the season and some excellent performances against the better sides some of the other losses were very disappointing. Underperformed pretty badly in the end based on the good stuff.

Strath 6-12. Big fall from being a top 3 regular since 2005, but as the season progressed and some players returned their form improved. Pretty good side for 8th!

Goolwa 5-13. Good steady rise from 1 win last year. I’m not sure they actually improved that much from 2011 really but managed to get over the line in a few games where previously they couldn’t, which is a positive.

Pongy 3-15. I’m sure they would be pretty disappointed with that result, but they certainly weren’t disgraced with wins over Strath, VH and Bays and some other close losses. Again, pretty solid team for a wooden spooner.

We can all be thankful we have such a strong competition where there every side has a chance, pretty much every week. Sure, it may take the better side to not bring its best but that does happen and floggings are a rarity. I’m sure players in other leagues are envious.

Gave up a big start and still got 3rd comfortably in the end and finished with the 2nd best % as well. Who'd you suggest should've been 3rd instead of them?

Not saying they don't deserve the spot, they have definitely proven they do. Mean more about like you say they had to rely on Bays losing to make sure they got the spot. Bays ended up handing it to them but there was every chance they could have held 3rd.

I think the space of the Victor oval will suit Creeks runners and they will progress to the GF. Yank should be too good for Bays on Sunday but I do think Bays are a chance.

Hey Im a Creek supporter and could not be happier. A great game by the boys today against a well drilled team in Willunga. The game was all square at quarter time but from there on they kicked only 1 goal and we pilled them on to win comfortably. As I have said before our goal scoring potential and run is our strength and add a tight back line with players prepared to put their well being on the line is at the moment a potent combination. One more game for us and hopefully the chocolates.

Geez, the atmosphere for the 'A's today couldn'tive been deader could it?
Pretty scrappy, tightly contested game didn't make for great viewing especially for the neutral spectator.

Willunga just the 2 goals after 1/4 time.

Thought umpiring was pretty good considering the tight scrappy nature of the game.

Creeks senior colts lost their 1st game for the year after not really being challenged at all during the minor round.

The 3 Mail medalists in the 'A' & 'B' grades and senior colts all played in losing teams in todays 2nd semi finals. Bet they'd all swap it for a win.

Would've thought that after the pain of losing the last 2 grand finals, they would've been hard at it and switched on today?
Gonna take a big effort for them to regroup and knock off (probably Yank next week) and then Creeks again to claim the flag.

The first quarter looked as though yesterday was going to be a cracker! Then the Creeks showed why they are the flag favourites.

Willunga too one dimensional still going about the same old game plan with Creeks dominating the run and carry using the entire oval. Unlike Willunga who seem to think they were playing a home game only using one side. Langhornes ran rings around Willunga in the midfield which is where the game was controlled.

Goodluck to both sides today, I think Yank will get up by 12 points.

Willunga looked second rate yesterday second to the footy and where dominated by a much more professional langhorne creek who must be flag favorites IMO
