High pressure game, but still too many turnovers from the Pies and got absolutely smashed for speed on those rebounds.

Loved Mick's call at half-time to move Cloke up the ground. No Mick, just no.

Buddy Franklin just happy to get the four points

What a cracking game especially early when it was very tight and very tough.

Hawthorns class saw them win easily, as a neutral supporter their midfield is a joy to watch Mitchells poise and Sewells grunt is simply amazing. Gibson is a freak. A few players down tonight too, if they all fire the Hawks will be unstoppable.

But the pies are not gone yet although Maxwell will get a week off so they will have to dig deep to win next week. Loved the gumption of Tarrant trying to rile Buddy early on, knowing he couldn't match him for height, strength or speed on the night. Shaw is a fantastic player mentally and physically, and great to see Cloke silence his critics with a six goal bag.

F... I love finals footy.

The greatest players always lifted a notch in finals and he always steps up his game come the major rounds (think smother on Rooey in goalsquare in the GF replay). If there is a spiritual leader at Collingwood, he is it.

Wouldn't classify him a loss... Pies don't need him...

Great game of football last night. Loved it.

For what its worth Collingwood gave it a fair old crack but once the Hawks settled they were found to be a class above the pies and probably most teams this year.

Now the good old thuggery type approach is ok if you are also winning the football. So the pies went out to rile up Buddy and it worked early, tarrent and co were able to get on top of Buddy. But geez you really needed a plan B. He was always going to get him self into the game and actually set up a few in the first half. It was actually the other players that seemed to be forgotten about in Rioli, Gunston, Brust and Savage (good sub) who kicked a few early to get the scoredboard moving.

Like I said the pies needed a plan B because the Hawks were all about the football last night when the pies went the body and thats why there were plenty of silly frees early on to the hawks. Ok so Bucks gave the umps a spray at half time, right o but really you brought that on yourselves. When you just play the body for a half, well naturally the umps are going to play plenty againts you and with the AFL going the way it is you can expect that they'll find frees from nowhere against you as they did.

Just for what it is worth hitting someone behind play like tarrent on Buddy when he was on the ground or Maxwell on Pupolo is not hard football. Sam Mitchell and Brad Sewell ozzes hard football. It is hard to tell from the vision about Maxwell but that didnt stop Hartlett from getting 2 as the hawks player cried like a little bitch. No reason to think that Pupolo wont do the samething like the little bitch Rioli did ;)

True. But his call to move Cloke up the ground was wrong and it amused me.

Maxwell's hit was just stupid and gutless and he should get games.

However, I thought that everything else that they players dished out to each other was brilliant and a throwback to the late 80's/early 90's. Very entertaining.

I'm with Q, from the bits I saw I loved the rough stuff .. We can't really whinge about how sanitized the game's become, then also whinge when blokes have a crack at each other .. Always adds a bit of fuel to the fire, so I hope there's more to come.

Sorry if this insults anyone, but seriously does Nick Maxwell do anything or add any value to Collingwood? Worst captain in the AFL and his performance last night was embarrassing.

His hit was dumb, but he took a lot of good marks last night and didn't do a lot wrong. Maybe don't be blinded by your hate.

Yes true, i do hate the man, but surely they could find a better captain than him? He would struggle to get a game if he wasn't captain.

What about being a metre away from Hodge, that was just DUMB. Made it worse as he didnt think he did anything wrong.
He also has a very strong reluctance to actually play on anyone (he's no Josh Gibson) and i would say without looking too closely he was on Savage and Bruest when they were getting involved and kicking goals.

Maxwell was awesome last night

2 50m penalties against him
1 decking someone behind the play
1 not having an opponent while his team was getting dominated
Heaps of soooking.
