So if the TV game is now a Sunday (seems the ABC do have some minor round flexibility) then why not all games should be on the Sunday for fairness. There is a fair bit riding on this round!

Agree. Works out well for Glenelg and Eagles (so I won't complain) to see what is required after the other two Saturday games. It would be a simpler equation if Central can thrash North.

Not sure how it's unfair? All teams that are playing for a final spot need to win.

Thought that we were only playing on Saturday because it was TV game so if it's not TV game I'm not sure why we are playing at the same time as the Crows although I assume it's because Port's said 'stuff the Crows'.

Yep. Port said "stuff the Crows" and the SANFL agreed.

Or ...

SANFL thought they had to have a game on Saturday for the ABC TV (remember how wk 1 & 2 of finals were initially being moved to Saturday for TV reasons) ... so yesterday evening they organised one as part of the Rd 24 structure.

Then today when they confirmed this with ABC TV, the telecasters said no we want to be a part of what should be a sensational Sunday and changed their telecast day leaving SANFL with a game on Saturday but no telecast of it.

I have no inside knowledge of this but it makes sense to me.

Interestingly, VFL had a Saturday and Sunday broadcast (based on a SEN ad I heard last week).

You can't blame me for coming to that conclusion regardless of whether the SANFL agreed because last time I checked there were no other games on Saturday afternoon and at the end of the day it's going to be a reduced crowd from both club's supporters.

Right you are. Confirmed Eagles v West, Sunday arvo, ABC TV. Hoo boy, that Port v Sturt is now a death match for all the wrong reasons. When was the last time a SANFL minor round match went head-to-head with an AFL final, played in Adelaide? Ever?

Even at this v late notice, hard to think of a reason not to move Port v Sturt now.

In 2007 South v Norwood went head to head against Crows v Hawthorn but game was in Melbourne.

Norwood were poor that year, South sacked Robert Pyman mid season, about 1,070 turned up.

Just read an interesting post across on the doubleblue.org website re how switched on will the Crows listed players suiting up for Sturt be this week when their actually "employers" are involved in an AFL final? Sturt may as well not play them and let them go watch the Crows - it will not make much difference to the result as it will be hard even with them to see Sturt getting up?

Given that the ABC are not covering this match them more consideration should have been given to playing this match on Sunday and the league should have over ruled the PAMFC. It would have also helped the overall attendance at the match which will be low given the Crows Final and Sturt have nothing to play for.
