I realise there are other deciding factors in close matches, but that paid mark to TV late in the final term when the player had two grabs at it before it was clearly knocked away was a shocker.

Great game of footy though, credit to both teams. Thought TV were gone but they kept coming back.

Just on the IB v TV game, thought the red-headed lad from IB with the metro hair-cut was brilliant at stages but coughed up some costly errors at the same time. Loved his energy but I reckon he split the webbing on his hand late in the game, which slowed him up a bit.

I reckon IB had no one left on the bench come the last quarter too, on a warmish afternoon, could have played a part in TV's resurgent last term.

I reckon some others might want to share the cake too JQ.

Typical Uris, I guess. Come finals they come out to play. Surely I can't pick against the Rooboys next week against Uris? Surely not?

How good has the first week of the finals been? Two cracking games that gave supporters or neutral onlookers heart-attack finishes.

TV must be cock-a-hoop. They still have two teams (A and U15s) going around in week 2 of the finals. Both their grades won their Elim Finals by 5 points against more fancied opponents.

Would have to say, though Uri's won on Saturday, Sunday's game was a much better spectacle. Even thought the umpys weren't too bad. Maybe everyone enjoyed being on the best surface in the hills.

This was my first look at Hahndorfs Michael Handby this week and he didn't really impress me that much. I was thinking he might be their key in the finals but i find myself having secong thoughts. Hahndorf v Torrens Valley this week might be an interesting battle.
Im not sure if the umpires that did Saturdays game will get the call up again this week, im glad my team wasnt playing :S

If Uraidla hasn't the best surface for this time of the year would be pleased to know which oval in the hills has!

Saw the 2 big games on the weekend. Awesome to watch. Mt Pleasant and Uraidla oval were in superb condition and the sunny conditions made the viewing pleasurable.
In Saturday’s game I thought early Uraidla had all the answers and looked the better side. A yellow card against a Uri player swung momentum and handorf must have kicked 7 of the next 9 or 10 to be in front by a few. Had the game done at ¾ time but don’t know what Sutherland said to them at the huddle but Uraidla hardly let the ball enter the Hahndorf 50m area. They got a run on and kicked ahead with a few mins to go and held on. Hahndorf young kids were good, both Roberts lads and the tripodi boys. The senior players need to have a look at them. Uraidla just seem to lift for these big games and have the ability to score quickly. On a side note umpiring from a neutral supporter’s point of view was horrible. They over umpired everything and just wanted to be involved in the game. None of the 3 guys out there should get a big game for the rest of the year.

Sundays game was probably a better spectacle said before, more open free flowing football. All day one side would push a few goals up only to be dragged back in. TV looked more dangerous going forward but IB always just seemed to get a guy out the back for a quick goal or to hit an easy target. They were probably the more consistent side but when TV midfield finally got their hands on the footy the game swung in the last quarter and led them to victory. Awesome game to watch and I could see TV being a handful this weekend. Umpiring in this game was much better then Saturdays affair. Trevor McDonald is the best umpire in the hills so give him the best game. Haven’t seen every surface in the past week but it would be a shock to me if there was one better then Uraidla, it has held up real well.

Only seen two HFL ovals this season, Balhannah in the wet and Uraidla on the weekend. Do they play cricket on that deck?

Thought there were two critical decisions that went against IB which handed TV the win, a free kick in the goal square and the paid mark, about 40m out, where the TV player fumbled the grab before the ball being knocked away.
Both resulted in goals. Both in the last quarter. See-sawing encounter though and great game.

Was told today Onka Valley's B grade had 2 players granted dodgey permits. James Pfeiffer and Matt Guitink who have played more As than Bs. Apparently the excuse given by the HFL was that they were B graders filling in for injured A graders during the season. I had to laugh, Guitink would have signed as a contracted player having previously come from Willunga's successful A grade side. And Pfeiffer has played more As than Bs over the past 2 years. Well done HFL, looks like you stuffed up here. I'm sure Mt Barker's B grade would be interested to hear this given they are their next opponent. Would 'cheating' be a fair word to use here?? I think so.
