I think the SANFL is very important to the general public in SA.

It's really our heratige.

AFL is really for TV money makers.

After hearing Sturt and Eagles CEO's speak last night on 5AA last night they discussed the potential fall out if the league clubs reduced to 8.

A channel 10 journalist has got wind of this confidential meeting and discovered that the Magpies were late/absent from discussions due to an alleged diary mix up.


Move on people nothing to see here.....

He went to Footy Park instead of a city venue where the meeting was scheduled.

Port don't have a member on the commission, so if someone from Port was to be there, they can only be there as an invited observer.

The SANFL have come out and said the 8 team thing is crap.

They've said that they're not going to remove a team from the league. Now if the PAFC under AFL control voluntarily shut down the Magpies presence in the SANFL, that's a different thing all together.

I feel its about time the SANFL had a proper Media Conference and either put this to bed altogether or dont have one so we all know the rumors are correct and then who ever is the team will know the score and 2013 can be prepared properly and successfully

I think nearly everyone who's club is still in existence would still care about the comp .. The challenge (as it is today) is to attract new followers who dont hold the ties to SANFL clubs that most of us older generation do (older as in terms of experiencing previous eras).

That said, I don't know of a SANFL fan that wants to see the Magpies disappear.

Serious question here, and big hypotheticals I know, but should the Power get a reserves team up and running would the Port faithful entertain the idea of splitting the "one club" in an attempt to get the Magpies independent of their big brother?

No, I dont think so.

Because I would imagine the Magpies would get chopped to make way for a Power reserves team (in whichever comp they may play).

In hindsight it should of happenned back in 1996 everyone knows it was always Port Adelaide Football Club ( Magpies) ambition to play on the big stage as it had outgrown the SANFL the SANFL would of been an 8 team competition and we would not be here now on this forum regurgitating and debating the same old story i think within 2 years their will be a AFL reserves competition with the Crows and Power participating.
