I can almost hear the Woolworths office printer whirring away as we speak as this is going on the notice board.

I noticed as well that they are starting the game at 11:45 instead of 12:15, which should give Henley boys enough time to get to Henley and our boys enough time to get to Mitchell Park and support.

morell wrote:Pacman, I agree with you in principle, I think its just a logistic thing, Mitchell Park reserves benefit from it no doubt, but it kind of makes sense that as both of our sides are in the finals and can play at the same ground. Happens to be our ground so we luck out. One of those things I guess. Just like when Brisbane played (and won) their pre-lim at the MCG even when it wasn't their home ground, you just have to work with it and do your best.

The one saving grace I guess is that at least its at Mitchell Park, we have good facilities, a good oval and its not too far for the Henely lads to travel compared to other options so it's not a massive advantage.

Yea but two sides could have followed their C's rather than one had it been scheduled as Pacman suggested...

But our A's finished above their C's, meaning we had first dip, I assume.

As long as I can remember its always been that the club with the highest ranked A grade team (or C grade side) that weekend gets their B grade to follow them regardless of what position the B grade side finished. Quite simple really Mitchell Park finished top in Div 7 therefore the club has earnt the right to have both their A and B grade play at home in the same week if possible.

Omg clubs are forking out ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS to host these finals

Mitchell park get more for their money because they finished TOP
A
If henley had both games at home, it would mean the sharks are getting more for their money

Mitchell park were first in line so they get best dressed

Its all about who gets more potential revenue at cash register and MP's $1000 investment is more deserving than henleys.

Get over it. Thats business

Yea I understand why it's happened, and am not affected by this... But Morrell's point in bold contradicted the rest of his argument. Doesn't matter.

I hear what you are saying Lutz... made perfect sense.... And as I said in my post I know that B grade sides can not buy home finals.... I was purely putting up the point that in this situation (which would be rare) that out of the remaining 4 matches - 3 of the clubs still have 2 teams playing.... Would have been a good chance for the SAAFL to reward form and performance of both grades and not purely on the result of the higher grade....
Maybe it is an archaic rule that needs to be revisited by the 'rules committee'.... And whilst they are at it, stop penalising clubs for getting the best sponsorship deals they can get (to survive/function and be successful) by refusing them home finals....

If a coach hasn't got 5 mins after a game to discuss your best players with the team manager..... gee. The best players should stick out in most games. Most young fella's these days live on the internet and to think they don't check the site for results is just naive. I know at FP we post accurate info. By the way good to see no FP players in the supposed team of the year. Not that we really give a toss anyway!!!

Who would you nominate from FP to be in the team of the year Cows? One thing about your team is I always struggled to find a stand out from you blokes both times we played FP. I always felt you had such an even spread across the board which probably went right through your D grade aswell. Although in saying that the first time we played FP at your ground one of your midfielders was really good but I never paid attention to his name. I dont think he played against us the second time.

Well bigshow first up would be Daniel Byrnes. Played CHF in the last game we played against you guys. Played years of A grade at FP at CHB (Has also made the SAAFL state side) so shows he can play both ends very well.
Also Malcolm Pitcher. A grade premiership player from last year.
As i didn't get to play against TTG ,MP or henley i don't know how good these guys are that are being mentioned on here . However i did get to play both games agaist your lads. :(

Daniel Byrnes is a quality player but hasn't played enough games to qualify. Need 12-13.

So then to contravene a league wide major sponsorship that assists the running of the league? Yep makes sense

Its all about negotiation. We're talking about Beer brands and sponsorship, not peace negotiations for the Gaza strip.

Surely a happy medium could be found that ensured TTG could host finals AND league wide sponsorships are maintained and kept happy.

Maybe - if any finals are played whereby the clubs are sponsored by a rival brand, the SAAFL will run a free ad in publication x or discount sponsorship for y or whatever equal to the value of whatever perceived loss said sponsor thinks they would be losing - which would be 2 fifths of naff all. If anything I would be saying to said sponsor they are damaging their brand by being so fickle.

oh yeah so West End build the stage, they ensure the event is up and going in the first place, but lets sell CUB products on their turf and post Carlton Draught stickers all over their stage

Maybe this 'League Wide Major Sponsor' should put back more into the local clubs then..... Instead of insisting that their logo is put up everywhere and supporting the SAAFL at the highest level..... Give the grass root clubs incentives to sell their products, instead of just demanding it..... With the prices of tinnies of beer at Thebarton being more than a lot of clubs sell stubbies of beer for (and just shy of spirit prices I might add), Im sure they make enough money to be able to do that.....
The SAAFL need to support and encourage clubs to get the best 'bang for their buck'.... especially those without the added income of pokies and betting facilities.... Footy Smart, I do hear what you are saying, but your committee of all people should know how hard it is competing for $$ given your location with so many SAAFL clubs (TTG, Golden Grove, Hope Valley etc etc) poaching each others local sponsors, players, support staff, etc..... I think some negotiation could be done to get all clubs on board with the current 'Major Sponsor' of the league.....

Dont you have a club member who is reasonably well connected with CUB Pac? not saying that you shouldnt have them as a sponsor but allot of clubs use pubs as a form of sponsorship and purchase their alcohol off them instead of dealling directly with the brewery. If not allowing clubs that dont have West End on tap to have finals, yet ensures that a leagues major sponsor stays happy then so be it. No one (very few people) can really say how much of an individual sponsors $$$ flows back to the clubs. I would suggest that should West End not sponsor the club cash calls would be much higher

Not to mention that some clubs are combined "Sporting Clubs" and have no say in where the beer gets purchased.

Any club that sells CUB products by tap doesn't deserve a home final any way..... I guess "Beer Karma" does exist ;) only except every time I drink a West End my taste buds "cop it"......
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?
