just look at what the SANFL did to help Port in the early 80s, or Sturt in the 90s, or North in the early 2000s, and that will show you that your comment ins't correct. The SANFL have shown they don't care about their teams financial states and won't lift a finger to help them.

Longlivesanfl you could not be more correct.

If the sanfl hadn't wasted millions re-modelling a dead duck for years they would be able to bail out any Struggling sanfl Club.

Our last two years of having to play port magpies . All I can say is lets enjoy them.

Ports financial issues of the early 80s, Sturt in the early 90s and North in the early 2000s came before the Port bail outs...

Your point ?? Bearing in mind sanfl also let you merge with an afl club aswell as nearly bankrupt itself for you.

my point, which was clear in the first place, is the SANFL did nothing to help clubs who were in deep financial strife before, so to say they aren't now because of Port in the AFL is comical.

IF Sturt are in the mess that sees them on the brink of folding, then I will donate money to save them...and I call on all SANFL supporters to follow suit.

They can't help. They have no $$$$$$$ even if they wanted to.

To say pafc has had no affect is completely naive IMHO.

Ask Les Stevens about port Adelaide and the negative affect they have had on all sanfl clubs. He will be more than happy to inform you.

That I do. I simply don't think your examples of sanfl refusing to help port 30 years ago has anything to do with port magpies dying to benefit Port power in 2014.
Or do you think there will be no proposed benefits to port power when the Maggie's death is announced .

If the SANFL had the money, they have shown at least three times in the past they they won't help.

see that's where you are being selective, my point has nothing to do with what's happening at the Port teams now, or in the past, or in the future, that's just the spin you put on it.

My point is the sanfl had the money and wasted it saving port from 2007-2011 .

I think what the sanfl has done by saving port is created a precedent .

Do you think it would be sanfls idea to kill Maggies or Would it be powers idea ????

I don't think either party would want to kill the Magpies. If anything, the Magpies could become a Power reserves team somewhere else, but it is in neither parties interest to not have the Magpies around

Merge Port with WWT, Norwood with Sturt, West Glenelg and South. 4 team comp no bye no 5th spot for a team that doesn’t deserve to play finals. Finally we might also get a team to compete with centrals for more than 1 or 2 years before dropping off the planet for 5 years.

If they do want to reduce the teams maybe look at dropping the team that has the longest premiership drought. After all is it about premierships of the money?

The SANFL are guarantor for Sturts debts. therefore they have/are helping them.

I dont see any need to reduce the comp, unless a club folds but that should be an absolute last option.

Me too.
A lot was lost to the SANFL, to all of us, when Torrens and Woodville merged.
I fear the only hope left for the SANFL would be if there were some horrible shortage of plane fuel in the near future which made it impossible for teams to regularly travel from one end of the country to the other to play sport, hence necessitating the dismantling of the AFL and putting everything back just the way it was.(welcome back Woodville and Torrens, welcome back top level footballers in the local comp).
Anyway, as things stand it looks as though we grow weaker each year.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
