I've just heard via radio that 2/3 players named on the interchange bench actually started on the ground therefore meaning two illegal interchanges therefore down to one interchange player only. Is this true??

If it is true, that is an incredibly basic mistake....

can someone confirm?????

Gee you'd want to find out who made the last minute change and where the communication error is. Lucky for North it hasn't cost them 2 pts
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Well done norwood
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

I headed out there tonight. Was a fantastic game and good crowd. The opening quarter was lightning quick with goals galore. The game closed down a little after that, but was fairly even the whole way through. Norwood missed some opportunities in the 2nd quarter in front of goal that probably would have seen them leading at half time - and given they had most of the play in the 3rd, they really should have been up by a few goals at 3 quarter time. But, North are a good side and good sides find ways of winning, even when they are not at their best.

Motlop and Ladhams were dangerous up forward all night and Alleway was good at Centre Half Forward. Once again Cubillo impressed - he's a big unit for an 18 year old and was funny watching him run through two Norwood players (who dived to the ground to win a free kick) off the play.

I thought Norwood dominated the ruck and Gibson played his heart out. He makes a few mistakes and isn't the most suttle player at times, but Norwood fans couldn't fault his endeavour. In Cockshell, DeJongh and Vlatko they have plenty of tall forward options. Really like McGuiness off the half back line. He reminds me a little of Luke Jarrad in the way he uses the ball and long and accurate left foot kick.

Norwood's game plan has clearly changed. From the over use and chipping around of the Brett James era - they are now a lot more direct and if anything, they probably need to settle and find a target when going into the forward line instead of continually bombing the ball to the top of the goal square.

Well done to North on the win and it was a real credit to SANFL footy the way these two teams played tonight.

We were a bit lucky to get out of that, for a while I thought Norwood had us but we fought back and with only 1 on the bench it was a great effort. Alleway was sensational.

Wasn't he just. Probably the best he has been for North. He is really starting to show why he was rated so highly when he came over from Box Hill.

Having put $115 on North tonight for the win I'd like to:
a) Congratulate Jars and the players for pulling out a magnificent win with only 1 bench player from virtually the start of the game.
b) Like to call for the immediate sacking of whoever made the stuff up that almost cost me $115!!!

Great game by the lads tonight against the odds (bookies had Norwood favs and that was before we only had 1 i/c player).
I got there when were 3 goals to zero up (long drive from my Sons debut at Noarlunga tonight where he kicked a goal in his first game and got the team up for a 3pt win).
I thought Ladhams was sensational and I thought Wakelin was awesome, they put him at full forward where he was supposed to go for a rest and his work rate to keep the ball in when out numbered was fantastic.
Allan and Motlop (Shannon) were others to stand out for me, perhaps Schubert as well.
Bloody Port took Daniel before the game as per usual, just another reason to hate those pricks.

Great potted review Aerie. Thanks for that. I do sometimes wonder about teams that say, 'We're going to play more direct, positive football', that they can be playing into the opposition's hands if the players have one notion only drummed into their heads, and there's no Plan B. Sometimes a 20 metre sideways pass is the best option for opening up a runner, and it's pretty easy to defend if you know that every ball into the forward line is going to be a huge roost into the hot spot.

For perhaps the first time in 30 years I've been following 'em, Norwood actually have an abundance of tall marking forward options; perhaps an overabundance when Andrew Hill's fit. Now to work on the rest of the game...

Would still rather be a disgrace to the SANFL and 3-1, than a credit and 1-3!
