Armstrong this morning announced that he would not fight drugs charges from the US Anti Doping Agency that if proven, would likely see him lose his seven consecutive yellow jerseys from 1999-2005.
SECOND place in the 2005 Tour de France was Italian Ivan Basso who in 2007, was suspended for two years for a doping related offence.
THIRD place was German Jan Ullrich who in 2012 was told by the Court of Arbitration for Sport that all his results from 2005 were void because of his involvement in blood doping uncovered by the Operacion Puerto scandal.
FOURTH place was Spaniard Francisco Mancebo who did not start the 2006 Tour de France after being linked to the Operacion Puerto case. But he was not found guilty.
FIFTH place was Kazakh rider Alexander Vinokourov who was banned for blood doping during the 2007 Tour de France. He later returned to competition and this year won gold in the Olympic road race in London.
SIXTH place was American Levi Leipheimer who was stripped of a 1996 national criterium title after testing positive to a banned substance.
SEVENTH place was Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen who was kicked off the 2007 Tour de France and later banned for two years for issues relating to missed doping tests.
