yep was a good game at mannum yesterday other than what has already been stated it's a pity we didn't get the win. The finals are looking to be pretty good this year with all teams showing good signs, can't wait for mannum v mypo next week.

In relief i put my shakey fingers to the key board knowing with absolute embarrasment we had 21 players on the field for most of the game. There is nothing better than beating Mannum especially at their home ground but to be assisted in the way we were has left myself and a few other imps supporters embarrased.I have said a few times i feel sorry for Mannum after the mass exodis last year and its a credit to them to re group and gel together to be competetive this season. I think surely the De michele boys couldnt possibly play again there are far better juniors , unfortunately they dont have the contacts of the michels. I was expecting a riot after the game saturday and like other posts Mannum just seem to accept it, if the decisions especially the ridiculous use of 50m was against imps there would be an exhausting investigation.

unsure if it was pure incompetence or blatant cheating on Saturday!!! neither look good for the RMFL

I really hope Mannum use this is a motivator for the remainder of the season. I guess they now know that there best will beat Imps at least...Mypo may be another story..

Im more inclined to think it was blatant cheating. I hope there is action taken and one umpire in particular never officiates a Mannum game again.

On a separate note, its pleasing to see Hales and Tonkes starting to recapture some of their early season form, must be the smell of spring!

for the forum members who think the umpires are cheating are peanuts!
Cheating would mean that Imps want them to favor the team, it is embarressing seeing a game like saturdays and its giving Imps as a club a bad name where it should be the umpire! when they Umpire there nothing to do with the Imperial FC. If we could pick our umpires each week we wouldnt pick any Imps guy because we know if they umpire shit we get called cheats.

MANNUM IF YOU HAD CLUB PEOPLE WILLING TO UMPIRE YOU MIGHT GET YOUR HEAD OUT YOUR ARSE AND NOT WINGE ABOUT THINGS YOU CANT FIX! YOU ARE A BUNCH OF OLD GRUMPY SPUDS!

FootyWiz, I stand corrected but I would say that both INZAMAM and used to be, are not Mannum supporters.

At least 1 of them appears to be an Imps supporter.

I dont not think any umpire would be stupid enough to cheat. Some of the decisions on Saturday at Mannum were just shocking. The sad fact that the two umpires in question are the umpires coach and his number one selector. They are just poor umpires but the issue is magnified if they umpire Imperial games because of their past links to the club.

As a Ramblers supporter, I completely understand where these comments are coming from. I wouldnt call it blatant cheating, just severe bias especially when the game is on the line. One of the reserve umpires (and an Imperial of very high standing) has even been heard saying that we will never win a game against them on his watch, nearly caused a punch up in the club rooms after the game.

Certainly sounds like plenty was happening. Disappointing day for the league if this all transpired. With all the controversy surrounding Motlop and the umpires and now this game, I'd say a reality check is in store for the umpires office.

River Murray Football League talk

Postby RyderCourtney » Mon Aug 20, 2012 8:25 pm

Geez it's a tough one with the umpires. At the end of the day we need them, the one thing that disappoints me is when some let their ego get in the way of there umpiring decisions. The best umpires are those that go unnoticed.

Are the league offering any incentives to introduce new umpires?

What about looking at umpires from other sports and seeing if they want to learn how to umpire Aussie Rules?

Injured and retired players from the league or surrounding leagues?

Grow the umpiring "swap" system with other leagues to get unbiased umps.

Instead of complaining, even if your accurate, provide suggestions to the league to help the problems (other than asking the umps to take off their Imps jumpers  )

Its not a matter of the umpires taking off their imps jumpers. This is not as bad as everyone is making out , most games are ok , this was an isolated incident that lasted for four quaters and appears to happen to Mannum the most. The umpires are defending themselves by obtaining the dvd from imps , they suggest the abuse from 2 Mannum players was the cause of 3 of the 5 50 meters three that resulted in goals. There is no doubt this was a very bias umpiring display that actualy changed the result of the game , Mannum fueled the fire by abusing the umpires so really who is to blame. It is sad that spectators with no emotional contact with either team could not believe what they saw , it leaves the league looking second rate and surely with so much being said about the game everywhere the umpires of that game really do need to please explain.

It was mentioned a while back that Zac Ewer was a possibility?

It was posted in the GSFL thread that Zac has had his contract terminated with Goolwa, effective immediately.
So I guess this opens the door for Jervois to approach him if they wanted to.

Get rid of one saga for the next! Jervois are best starting afresh I think.

I've noticed Girardi and Viney (ex Ramblers) aren't in the goals in Div 4 like they were in the RMFL last year. I believe the standard of the RMFL has gone up again this year, where do you think it would sit on an amateur scale? going by those statistics - Div 4 or 5? or higher? haven't seen too many SAAFL games so would be interested to know.

Yeah that was my feeling to. Another way of looking at it I suppose is to consider that Brunoli was a Div 1 medalist and doesn't dominate the comp by any means. He has been very good this year though however.

Girardi has said that half our b grade would walk into a team down there and was stunned at how bad the level of comp is

He has also been in America for about 3 months now which explains why he aint been kicking many
