I agree with this.
It seems the increased player drain from the afl expansion and the salary cap have really affected our competition in the last 2 years.
We were crap last year & still finished in the 5.

Even the top teams this season are on the uninspiring side.
They are well coached. Thats why they are winning.

The umpiring standard has dropped off as well.
It wasnt that long ago that I thought it was far superior to the afl umpiring.
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

Nothing more than a fierce footy collision and if anything Lynch should have given the free away rather than receive it.

There was a number of clear marks not paid for whatever bizarre reason.

Blokes on the Radio couldn't believe how unlucky Kirkby was and the lack of free kicks he got when being belted. I don't think any of us mind if they are consistent but those blokes were just plan crap and no one had any idea.

but unfortunately he also "plays" for free kicks and now he is perhaps paying the price.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Glenelg showed why they are a pretty crap team, which evidently, doesn't make us sound too good since we lost...

If this is what a 5th place side is like nowadays then the league has fallen away even more....

Umpiring was at times... woeful, blind, idiotic and downright appalling... noted that 5RPH were amazed at many pro-Glenelg decisions...

Glenelg had the better of these attrocious decisions... no doubt about it...

But Sturt weren't without some blessed decisions...

Overall a terrible loss for Sturt who need to get off the bottom, otherwise the club seems assured of folding in 1-2 years.

Geez just talk to the club... or anyone who has been involved in football in this state for a while... they'll tell you...

... $2.2m in debt, no prospects of paying it off, fans in the dark, closed door policy on disclosure, speaking to some people I have great respect for with regards their knowledge / involvement in SANFL football, they reckon maybe 5 years tops.

Personally, I think its 1-2, maybe 3 if the spoons keep coming, we won't survive another 1989-1996 era.

It's just my personal opinion, I'm not Nostradamus.

the duldig one though was the one that changed the game as we goaled from the resulting 25m penalty as duldig played on.

no doubt that duldigs was a push but they had let the pushes go all game, just like they hadnt pinged for holding the ball until the last 20 seconds

Agreed... the 25m penalty, when Duldig probably took the whistle as confirmation he got the mark, was appalling, it resulted in a Bays goal and a change in momentum, as Sturt were going into attack with a 17 point lead until that decision.

I don't necessarily blame the loss on this decision, but it was without doubt, a shockingly poor decision at a crucial time.

What was even more shocking was your goal line defending for that goal. Sam had his shot 60 metres from goal, and not one Sturt bloke had the foresight to stand on the goal line....

Maybe it makes up for the free kick that McIntyre got right in front of goal when he ran and ducked into a Bays player. Should have been holding the ball, but they gave it to high

One thing that has never changed about Sturt sides over the years is that when they get a poor decision against them, they're all "wo is me", drop the heads and it's game over. I knew we were gone there and then and it's not just blaming the umps.

Sturt were still in front and the players were able to control their own destiny.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
