Did you mean Cs?

How do you have a B graded depleted due to injuries, but not the C grade?? Jetters thinks it smells iffy.

our u/18s had the week off last week so the club thought it would be a good opportunity to give them a taste of senior footy, and as our club has a rule they are not to play Cs they went straight in to the Bs unfortunatly there was a communication issue and a few of the u/18s lads didnt show on saturday hence the coaches having to pull on the boots. IMO our Bs and Cs are very even but as all know its a huge gap between C2 and D2R, if our B grade were to play in the C2 comp im sure they would be going very well

the teams are very similar atm, C grade having some very capable players eg, 3-4 blokes in late 30's that are finishing of their careers together, and a few other blokes that probs have skills to play B's possibly A's but just not upto it fitness or commitment wise.

Our B grade side is very young and depleted because of injuries. There was probably one person that should have been playing a higher grade and he has been told he is playing B grade last few weeks and he has done it.

Our B grade have not been doing so well over the past few years. The C grade has only got back on track in the past 2 years. You could look at it the way you are or the way most are. Our B grade are trying to blood the young troops and give them a crack at senior footy before they are actually seniors. A lot of the time you loose those 18's when they become seniors due to culture or just lose interest. We have done this really well this year and its a testimant to our B grade coach. Also for the first time in a very long time we have had old players or those away at the mines etc just wanting to have a kick with mates. The quality of those players have been good for us at times but no means iffy. I dont think you guys are going to fall by the way side after such a good season so far. Agreed Dizzies are the team to beat. Anyone that has earnt the right to play finals can shake it up. I dont see any team in the 5 that will be there just to make up numbers. SHould be a great finals series.

Fair points, particularly to do with the retention of young players and less committed older players, but you would have to agree the comparison between the results in the Bs and Cs are staggering.

Your D2R lost by 150 and the C2s won by 150 and you have the ageing coach and assistant lining up for the Bs. It appear you have taken it too far.

I don't think we will fall by the way side, but it would be a huge effort for a D4 C grade to beat a D2 B grade.

Just saying that was our experience today. The fine young men from POS are very creative.

1. Creative Time Keeping
2. Creative Team Sheets
3. Creative Interchange

Reseves Players arrive throughout the afternoon just coming on whenever and wherever they like. We played against at least 27 today, maybe more. PS you'll still win but ....just saying these fine young upstanding men are very creative. ;)

You couldn't have been more right mate. Exactly the same thing happened today. 28-29 players went through today. The time keeping was obviously a little better. We had pull outs up to 5 mins before the game to play with 21 and we still got the job done to win by 6 goals. Goes to show what sort people are running around out there. Differing result with the officiating today. Their ump is almost no I'd say worst C2 umpire getting around. Our bloke was just as bad in some cases. We were denied a team sheet from them and they wouldn't accept our best players. Regardless of a teams position you still what is required. The bloke taht is obviously their assistant coach has the brain of an idiot. I just hope they enjoy the games next year. Also i can give them something to right in their Kings Speech. We were outdone and out passed by an undermanned Portland Thunder in the last game. There's your opening line. Spend just as much time on your team as you do on your piss week newsletter you might get somewhere. Looking forward to next week against Lutheran. Interesting result on the districts vs athelstone game. Very surprising result. Any comments on the game.

"The bloke that is obviously their assistant coach has the brain of an idiot." - I think you could be referring to the "reject" Male Model from the Harris Scarfe catalogue, the assistant coach who has attached himself to their team.
I have respect for their coach and the challenges he has faced. Unfortunately even good men are susceptible to the odd parasite. Shame a whole clubs reputation is judged by the actions of one "idiot". Anyway I'm sure we will catch up over the next few weeks while this guy persues his next host.

Athelstone are a very good side, they were quicker and adjusted to the windy cross breeze conditions better than us. We've still got alot of improvement in us and with a few pacy inclusions to come in this week we'll be keen to bounce back this Sunday

Be silly not to. Sorry to jump in ahead of you LMA. That would be an awesome day for the club that has that opportunity but i think those C grade games will be held on the Sunday. We would have loved to have done it last year wek 1 with Golden Grove but for some reason it wasnt allowed.

Looking at the SAAFL website. I would pressume taht the draw has been put in as a draft because it has all grades on all games playing on a Saturday at 2:15 including the GF.

Port Districts A's finished 3rd which means they play Uni and Uni. B grade finished 4th, so play against PAOC @ Flinders Park. C grade finished 2nd which means they play Athelstone @ Largs at 2:15pm. Which sucks because we only have 2 trainers.

Also, one of our C graders was taken out a beauty on the weekend against Athelstone, he has pulled up sore and possibly done is collarbone. Rumour has it there was a camera filming from Athelstone. He does not want to do an 'Adelaide uni' and take it to the tribunal, he wants to see what happened to himself and show it around the club like a trophy!! Anyone from Athelstone can help me out??

Our game in the C's is scheduled for the Sunday. What if they could put you guys in the B's at home on 12pm Saturday and bring us forward and play after or before your game ?

Was a good fair collision on Saturday with the Little Big Rig taking on one of Athelstones' bigger players

Saw the clash from the centre half forward - a fair honest clash between two guys going in hard for the ball. No malice intended and neither team remonstrated with the other - just good hard footy. As was said the Athelstone guy was one of the bigger guys. We were a bit suprised the PD guy came back out after half time - which showed a bit of good old fashion G&D. Hope its not as bad as thought - no way to finish a season.

I saw the camera there - don't think it was a Raggies camera though, but i'll stand corrected.

Apart from that it was a good game played in good spirits, worthy of a clash between two top teams.

I have said since the start of the year that Athelstone will be very hard to beat... Coming from D7 where they have been for years, they would have some very handy players at their disposal. Districts will have to change a fair bit if they're to get up this week.

Really looking forward to this week. By the looks of the forecasts weather wise for the rest of the week it will come down to the good old head over the pill and hard at it style of footy. The draw sees Athelstone head back down to Largs and if the weather does hold to what it is now or gets worse, the commenst on Athelstone adjusting to the conditions early might get the black and whites a bit edgey. In my mind i still think Districts will be too strong. They have had a great turn around since last year and have got some good players. Athelstone for me are strong but ive seen a few things that i havent in Doistricts which helps me get to that oppinion. I see Districts getting over the line by 3-4 goals. Having the double chance for either team will be handy. As we all know the looser playing the winner out of us and Lutheran.
Our game Vs Adelaide Lutheran will be just as tough. On the wide spaces of Thebby it will come down to the fittest side. Happy with the set up just would have rathered having the home final which we worked really hard to achieve. The ground will obviously hold out with the weather (drainage) so im not to worried about that. Lutheran played some really experienced players last week including some higher gamed B graders to help get them across the line. Those players will obviously not be eligible to play but that still doesnt mean they wont be strong none the less. With the emphasis on verbal abuse form players to one another and o the umps based on Lutheran's recent events with Seaton, I hope the umps can let the game flow then we shoud see a great game of footy. Bloody love finals footy. On the season. The promotion/relegation system comes into effect. Would that see Pooraka and Pembroke go or is it just the one each way? Cant rememebr and cant be bothered going through all the info. If it is the bottom and top two going either way, Seaton would be over the moon they got the job done and able to stay in C2.

I hope your right Satchel, about our game. Athelstone are definately a different and better side than the first time we played them and probably than the last time you guys played them. I'd rate them the team to beat for the flag, with Portland the Smokey's

I appreciate your kind words LMA. This wont be like the Div 2 thread where Portland and Districts pass the favoyrtism off to each other though ;) We are better than taht down here arent we mate. 8) Seriously i do agree with you. Sides do turn up a gear when it gets closer to the major rounds which is good as you dont want sides there to just make uop numbers. All 5 sides deserve to be there whcih a huge positive with the new system in place this year

Hey Satchel, did you get a permit for the player who kicked 4 today who happened to play A grade last week ? I was always under the impression that a player can't drop 2 grades. Would hate to see you eliminated on a technicality :)

No such rule
He's played 6 C Grade and 1 A Grade so he's OK to play C Grade
