Out of play king hits should not be tolerated. Broken jaws can cause huge issues for the rest of the victims life. Agree or not with mclarens witness this atleast sets an example By the league.

Haven't heard any umpire complaints this year which is good but yesterday in the Goolwa lanhorne game it was rubbish. Not on a's but the colts and b's was a joke. I know theres a shortage and these grades not matter as much but this was 3v4 and 1v2. 3 weeks out from finals. Terrible umpiring by some old school part timers. Don't know what limb and LF thought.

Have thought the umpiring this year has been pretty good generally. Especially compared to that rubbish umpiring often seen in the AFL.
Always gonna get a few bad decisions here and there which is what sticks in peoples mind the most.
Same 2 guys did the senior colts & 'B' grade yesterday at Goolwa which wouldn't be the easiest thing to do. One of the guys was an ex Goolwa Player i believe? Certainly no suggestion of bias. Senior colts i thought there were some softish frees handed out but they went both ways and certainly didn't affect the result of the match. Didn't see much of the 'B's but assumed they would've umpired in the same style.
Cant always go on crowd reaction to umpiring standard as sometimes they're so far off the mark with their biased pleas for holding the ball etc that it makes one wonder if they're watching the same game but they're entitled to their $6 worth i suppose.

Not really an issue at this end, it was just one of those days where we got a bad run of decisions and Creeks got some vital ones in front of goal. The neutral umpire wasn't fit enough to do 2 games and our umpire is too honest for his own good because he tends to lean towards the opposition to look unbiased. No impact on final results, but I do agree that late in the year important senior colts matches probably should have the best of the umpiring.

With the Neely incident we keep mentioning McLaren, but isn't it Myponga who are involved?

Also a McLaren player was a victim of a cheap shot but that doesn't seem to be the issue with some people on here. IMO if you end someone's season with a cowardly attack you should be rubbed out for the same amount of time if not longer pending on the amount of games left.

agree with you never, great southern has always been a fairly clean league in regards to behind the play incidents. We dont want this turning into a "Dirty League" with the good players then not coming in as it will gain a bad reputation.

Agree entirely. Why do you say " that doesn't seem to be the issue with some people on here"? What was the wash-up of the kimber incident - no report/penalty?

My top 5 for the mail medal would be kellock, munn, davis neal, sidebottom and hodge from what i have seen this year. Unfortunately with strath not winning many games early will make it hard for munn to go back to back medals. Kellock would be a deserving winner fair player who wins his own footy and has gone fwd and kicked a few goals also.

This year definately has thrown some surprising results, wouldn't know of too many comps where the 4th placed team (bays) loses to the bottom team (myponga). The neely injury is a big loss for the bays if out for the year & reports are that loots is out for the year for mclaren also. These 2 teams i think will be copping a hiding come 2nd week of the finals, whoever makes it thru on current form.

It's coming across from a certain identity that the evidence given to the tribunal from the Willunga incident was from an unreliable witness.

G.O.A.T wrote:on mail medal tips can anyone shine some light on who they think will win their local b and f? should give abit of an idea about who will poll

Victor: 1. Hodge 2. Iljcesen then Ryan, Osborne, Bartlett, Perry, Whatman and Moules. Excellent seasons from 3 young defenders in there.

Mail medal: With Willunga and Yank on top they will poll plenty of votes but their best players seem to be pretty well spread - maybe Sidebottom. Creek have a few possibles with Kellock the key but the others may pinch votes. Bays? - Davis-Neale is one of the best I've seen this year - killed us out of the centre in the first game then went forward to cover Welsh in the second round and kicked 7, yet he doesn't feature in their best as much as I would expect. McLaren - seem a pretty even side without standouts.
The bottom 5 do have some standouts, but will they poll enough without as many wins?
Compass - Corbett, Victor - Hodge, Strath - Munn and Cousins, Goolwa - Ewer, Pongy - Carroll.

As far as SP info goes Corbett and Carroll have by far the best records. Corbett 7 bests, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, Carroll 8 bests, 2 seconds. Might come from those 2 or Kellock I think.

On behalf of the Willunga Football Club I'd like to thank everyone within the GSFL community for their support through this tough time. The amount of people from within the GSFL that showed up on Monday for Adam Carnevale, his family and friends is a testament to who he was and what he'll be remembered for!

For those that were there you could definitely see how successful he was, not only at Football but at life itself!

think you must be joking... Think someone else needs to find out about the tribunal.. Neely thing is VERY serious.. How NOT serious is a broken jaw from behind play...
