Round 21 - South v Central @ Hickinbotham Oval (Sat 18/8)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Aug 13, 2012 2:04 pm

The Panthers were pretty competitive against Norwood last week but gave up 5 goals in the last 10 minutes to go down to the Legs, while the Dogs were exposed in a few areas by a West Adelaide side that played very good football. The Dogs have a few coming back from injury and may make a few changes while the Panthers will want to address their aweful record at home.

Sadly there seems to be a lack of hunger and passion around the club this season...evident with the supporters, or lack of, and some of the on field performances this season . Maybe Roy has now lost the drive to keep coaching.
If the rumour is true, will this give the players the spark to send him out on a winning note, surely he deserves it .

Work load and young family would be the reasons he'd stop coaching Central. Roy is now the owner of a Real Estate business and from memory, has 3 young children, all under about 6 or 7, I think.

I don't think there will be that many changes, perhaps 2 or 3 at most...

Dylan Orval wont come into the League side after just 1 ressies game in the lqast 6 weeks...

Matty Westoff HAS to be dropped, he has been given plenty of chances. We need to replace Westoff with a tall forward Orval is the ONLY one left.

I almost guarantee they wont pick Orval in the League side and wouldn't be surprised if Westhoff keeps his spot in the seniors for one more week.

Dropping big Daniel Bass  . Good to Ben Dowdell having another crack but big DB has been a beauty for us all year. DOC any word on why, thought his form has been good, Nathan Daniel being dropped also a surprise.

A little surprised with Bass, but not with Daniel. The latter has really struggled to have any impact through the 2nd half of the season.

It's about time we beat the Dogs..

Will be interesting to see how big ruckman Josh Wilson goes in his League debut for the Dogs.

29 years old, played a lot of footy at varying clubs around the country and joined Central about 2 months ago after playing for Yankalilla.

Dominated his first few games in the reserves then did a calf. Back in the 2's last week and had a good game, now getting a League gig.

Good luck to him...

Yes a little surprised to see Bass dropped, thought he has been reasonable all year. Im glad to see Dowdell get a crack though... he gets his hand to the ball a real lot and can perhaps give our midfielders first look.
Not surprised to see Daniel in the twos though, think its been overdue actually, has really struggled of late.
I think the panthers can win this one.

Yep:

Bass last week gave away a deliberate after the ball free (knocked over Ben Warren after kicking a goal and in the process gifting another) so its a discipline related dropping.

Daniel has been ordinary for weeks and with others pressing for selection I have no problems with him being dropped on form.

I expect us to win this one.

Few comments will insult us more than this, doubly because it's hard to argue against it. Only reason to expect the dogs to win is history. Doesn't mean much, but this playing group, this coaching group and this administration have been better than we expected. Even when us die hards thought it was beyond our ability we pulled it out. I have so much faith after having my doubts proven wrong that it will take many disappointments for me to lose faith again. I tip the dogs. For no reason, other than the pure fact that they have let me down around 1 in 100 games in the last decade or so.
