North / Melbourne / Port / Devonport
Base them in Devonport Tas
Northern Port Demons :D

They'll just have to get rid of the Collingwood guernsey - Blue, teal, red and white guernseys

Wouldn't Teal, Pink, and Parchment, somehow, seem more appropriate, as well as avoid clashes?

Will say again that their draft choices between 2001 to 2005 - players that would now be between 25-29 years old - were diabolical with the only noteworthy players out of 20 + picks were Troy Chaplin (no.12, 2003) Alipate Carlile (no.44,2005) Matt Thomas (no.8 pre season draft 2006) Tom Logan (no.52 rookie draft, 2005) and Danyle Pearce (2004 rookie draft) and in that time they also had the masterstroke of trading Brent Guerra for Rob Forster-Knight =)) so that poor period has to have some sort of impact on their current performances.

Port haven't received "equalization" payments and NM haven't received handouts.

Incorrect again, nearly all clubs receive equalization payments but at different levels, even the Crows receive these payments.

These payments allow the AFL to program the fixture to make $, the Victorian blockbusters, Debry, Showdowns twice a year. Hence teams like the Roos are made to travel and play the lowly supported teams as home games and revenue suffers as a result.

Still a non repayable payment Dutchy and you know NM are right near the top of the list of equalization payments.

That would be because of what Dutchy is saying though, right?

They don't get a Dreamtime at the G match, or the ANZAC day clash, no real derby (who did they used to play in rivalry round anyway).

after they pioneered friday night footy, the bigger clubs saw the revenue in it and they lost out
also before sth melbourne went to sydney, the roos were the team that always played them sunday games up their
they have been the pioneers in alot of footy events that are now taken for granted and other clubs are now getting in on,ie grand final breakfast
the bottom line is that north are not that well supported compaired to the other clubs and alot of that is to do with the geographic areas that the clubs traditionally came from
when the game went national it was alot harder to get the exposure that is required to build that membership base

That is a staggering list of footballers who haven't made it. All clubs make mistakes and not all players don't fulfill potential, but there must be/have been something seriously wrong with the player recruitment, development and/or welfare at the Power over the last ten years. Perhaps the successes they were having with great players recruited in the mid-90's, Wilson, Francou, Tredrea, Lade, James, Primus, made them a bit complacent in this area?
Even off ORDB's list Matt Thomas and Danyle Pearce (if he can find his potential again) is the only true quality, Chaplin, Carlile and Logan are just triers IMO.

It's the core of the issue though. If they had the supporter base they'd get more of the Fri night games they pioneered. It's not as though they had the necessary supporter base first and then lost it when they lost rights to Fri nights.

The rest is just excuses or reasons whatever you want to call them.

I am not trying to be critical rather just saying what the reality is and to some extent it is the root of Ports problems (apart from the self inflicted management problems). Same for Brisbane, Bulldogs, Melbourne, etc.

This is the essence of what I'm trying to say without sinking the boots in - don't know who was responsible for recruiting during this period - the strike rate is disgraceful.
