Im by no means saying that we would come down to Div 7 and be unbeatable, but atleast we would be more competitive and have chances to get some wins which would give much needed confidence to the group. So really its a no brainer, see you all next year!!

Only if the 2 team promotion and relegation system gets a vote "for" at the next delegates meeting HBF. That could be interesting.

I suppose if that happens, we will stay up, but i dont think it will get the green light.

It doesn't appear to have a great deal of support. Personally I think the current system works well enough and your club is the classic case of why it should remain as it is.

I couldnt agree with you more YM. As much as it would be easier to attract recruits staying in 6, i think we need to come down, rebuild, then work our way back up through the grades. Some people wouldnt agree with me, but this club deserves a whole lot more than what it has been given over the last 5 years or so. I will continue to promote the kids and seek people who wanna be at the club for all the right reasons!!

Don't tell me Henley dropped guys back last week when their Div 1 teams had the bye? That's so unlike The Sharks :p

Guess when your sitting on top in Div 1 you can do what you want Easy Miss. Ohhhhh, sorry, allowed to. Dobson played his 1st 8 in Div 1. Mind you he must be out of sorts because his last 3 have been in the C's. Nice coup marbles.

Dobson been injured 10 weeks. Yes is a-grader. He left 3 quarter time last week had only 20 men last quarter. Mckenzie been interstate for month is genuine b-grader it was first game bak we all hope reaches A's next season as has spent many years in c-grade but certainly a ripping talent

moss injured and every week theres always 1 or 2 ups and downs.

So ur assumptions look so pretty :ymdaydream:

Dobson was returning from a bad ankle injury I'm pretty sure, and as Yank Man said, played a few in the 3's. Fitzgerald started in the D's at the start of the season, played a few C's and has done well enough to play a few B grade games. McKenzie probably elected to play last week to play with friends in the C's (has spent more time in C's than B's in his time at Henley), heard he played a blinder against MP though. Tansell would have played more C's games this season, but has taken his chances in the B's when they've had injuries, and is the current B grade ruckman I'm led to believe. Don't know much about Moss.
The side wasn't stacked like it could have been, but these guys were obviously handy inclusions.

No reference to stacking Lutz. Just a great effort from my lads against such a quality outfit on the day. Gives us hope. That said, I also hope Matt Ehrlich plays tomorrow and gets just reward for a fine career in his 200th game. He's been a very loyal player at Henley and everyone at MP wishes him well. =D> =D> =D>

Well Rd 17 has sealed the top 5 for 2012 in Div 7. Here are my thoughts - only opinion and speculation as well!!

Mitchell Park - Top spot, week off and straight into the semis against the winner of Tea Tree Gully and Henley. Very well deserved and have been the form team all year and are the firm flag favorites going into the Major Round. Will take a world of beating - starting with the daunting task of shutting down the 2 best forwards in the comp - McDonnell brothers.

Tea Tree Gully - 2nd or 3rd dependent on the results of Rd 18. After a sluggish start to the year have performed strongly in the last half of the year - biggest issue is now being able to settle their team down heading into the Major Round - With all four of their sides playing finals, form and injury in the higher grades may determine their finish.

Henley - 3rd or 2nd dependent on results of Rd 18. Have been the silent assassins of Div 7. Have gone about their business and are really heading into finals with strong form. The only team to defeat Mitchell Park. Again like Tea Tree Gully are affected by their A's and B's with selections. TTG v Henley in Qualifying Final will be a belter of a game.

Angle Vale - Their best is good enough, but their confidence going forward would have been dented with an 8 goal loss at home to fellow finalist TTG today. Rumour has it TTG were without Chambers, Vansoest and a couple others playing B's as well. Is a good chance against North Pines in the Elimination Final, but will struggle to beat either Henley or TTG the week after.

North Pines - Again on their day can be very dominant, but it is the inconsistency not only week to week, but quarter to quarter that will be their worst enemy. Are good enough when they are up and running, but like Angle Vale may struggle to get past the 2nd week if they are successful in the Elimination Final against the Owls.

It shapes up to be a fantastic finals series with all 5 teams very deserving of their positions. Obviously still one more minor round game to come, but thought now that the final 5 is sorted is a good chance to get slightly ahead of the Div

You are very astute Pacman.

Mitchell Park - Yes, but still vulnerable as shown by Henley. The Maccas are a key and you can shut down 1 but 2?

TTG - Fraser, Quinn, Chambers and Vansoest have been big ins, and if they all play will be dangerous.

Henley - Henley are the only C grade team who are a Div 1 club and you never know what you are going to get on game day.

Angle Vale - Made a Prelim final in 2011, but you must question their depth, along with North Pines. Oddly enough they played each other in last years Elim final. Both their B's are not playing finals and that could be the telling factor deep in to Sept.

Personally, good luck to all the teams who will participate in finals and those who won't, because Div 7 has been fantastic this year and the improvement at clubs like Smithfield and Flinders Uni shows just hard people work behind the scenes to make their clubs viable. To the volunteers, God Bless you all.

Yank, is Nat fighting fit? I note he only kicked 1 goal on the weekend.

He now has to kick 15 to get his tonne before finals and has been overtaken by Phil Hall at the Units.. obviously I know this isn't a priority in terms of what the team is trying to do, but wouldve been nice to get that distraction out of the way before finals no doubt..

Shame he wasn't closer to the mark, would've loved to have sent a grass roots camera down there to capture the magic moment ;)

Hahaha, FC. Nat is the consumate captain of a club on the up. He is now getting the best defender each week and bringing others in to the game. Lukey holds the ton record and he would hate to take that mantle from him. Martinovic from Flinders Pk was great on him saturday and hence the reason he kicked 1, but Luke kicked 4, Gleeson kicked 3 and Mazey kicked 3. It's all about the "team" for Nat and save your cameras Saturday, he is playing full back.

Its funny that you say nat to fullback
he is without a doubt the best centre half back i ever had the privledge to coach
and for that matter i used to play luke at full back in the big games and he always did extremely well
to see two natural forwards playing in defence but still with their attacking flair was always a sight to see

I want to say a massive well done to all at Flinders Uni =D> =D> =D> they have had a terrible year on the field but yet they manage to field 2 full teams each week. Something we have not been able to do for the past 4 weeks  meaning I have had to pull the boots back on   Their B grade came out and were very competetive for the first quarter and a bit but skills let them down. We had 2 A graders play in the B grade just to make sure we had 1 on the bench. The 2 A graders swapped of the bench unless one of our regular B graders were knackered. Flinders Uni were a good bunch of blokes who kept on trying.
In the A grade Flinders Uni have improved heaps and a lot of praise must go to their coach who keeps on trying to teach his players. They out scored us by a few points I think in the second quarter. After half time they fell away but if they can keep together for next year I think they will be a lot better side.
