and angle vale hmmm theyd be one side we've played lately that i'd hate to play again

North Pines will seal 5th spot against flinders uni?? Uni a no chance easy game then :p

Id back smithfield against modbury

Shocs will be tough at old high school, that ground is always in awesome condition everytime we play there, like gridiron turf

I would say top 5 is locked in for the finals with Angle Vale clear 2 spots in 4th. North Pines have been pretty lucky with their last 2 games of the season with Flinders Uni and Smithfield (although I wouldn't be surprised is Smithfield give them a good go) compared to Flinders Park playing Mitchell Park and Henley.

not sure why it is lucky as everyone plays each other twice
If they had played them earlier then they would be 2 games clear

It's lucky because the draw has set them to play the bottom 2 teams at a crucial time of the season. If it was reversed with Flinders Park, they could lose the 5th spot.

Flinders Park to beat Mitchell Park & the Sharks then pump Angle Vale and go onto to Grand Final themselves....

Do u reckon Flinders Parks will go up to Div 6 next WHEN they make the Grand Final :D

=)) North Pines have a game and percentage (worth another game) and Flinders Uni this week at Thebarton. Think the 5 is pretty settled. Reckon you need to focus yourself on Flinders Pk marbles, because you havn't beaten them yet this year. Round 18 could be a belter.

I suppose those Henley boys are pretty confident after the weekend but I think are getting a bit ahead of themselves.

I'm not sure if we will go up, because a 'C' grade side can change considerably from year to year. If we keep the same team as this year, hopefully we would be competitive in div 6, but that is unlikely depending on whether the A's go up to Div 1 or not.
I don't make that decision, but personally i would rather stay in Div 7 and remain competitive no matter whether we lost some players or not rather than risk going to div 6 and get smashed every week.

Begs the question, what if Henley played TTG in the GF? and neither of them wanted to go up. x_x

yeah I'm pretty sure that is correct since they chose to stay up last year. The same as if SHOC made it to the GF this year, they wouldn't have a choice but to go up.

Only if 2 go up. Houghton are bottom so they would be 1st in line. As I said before if Henley and TTG play in the GF and exercise their option to stay down, what happens then? Or has Henley done that before marbles. Just askin'

Ingle Farm will only stay up if we avoid relegation. If the option is offered again, can't see it happening though, we will refuse and come to Div 7. Whilst at times this year we have played footy that can match it with the top sides, we have struggled with consistency. In all honesty, we should have come down this year.........but you learn as you go along.

Would be a good call HBF. We had the offer to stay up last year, but in consultation with the committe I didn't think we were in any shape to be competetive. We had won 1 game and lost several by over 40 goals. It's taken us two seasons and some good recruiting to just match it with the good teams in Div 7. You like to play at the best level, but winning games gives enormous confidence and helps bring more players, not to mention the extra volunteers who are a lot happier in the jobs they do when you are winning.

It's catch 22, the higher the grade the better the players you can attract but if you are constantly losing, the morale around the place drops off and you get less bar takings as less players go back for a drink after the game.

Winning certainly helps LM, for us we looked outside the square for recruiting and targeted southern, most of them had no real idea of the Div's in SAAFL but I guess it's a bit different out north with so many clubs close together and everyone seems to know everyone. For Ingle Farm they clearly now have a core group of good players, a good coach with focus and a future plan. Dropping back would enhance that and make life easier, especially when you are trying to strengthen the club culture and discipline. You seem to be a bit more humble when you're winning.

It's easy to be humble when you are in your situation where winning has been a norm, for those with a 50% to 70% win ratio it is a greater feeling and there's a lot more feeling after a solid victory which generates patronage at the club.

It's certainly been a tough year for us, but we have put some good rules in place and have really been firm on whats acceptable and whats not. We may not have had success on the field, but we have been alot more competitive in games, and things do look to be on the up. Im by no means saying that we would come down to Div 7 and be unbeatable, but atleast we would be more competitive and have chances to get some wins which would give much needed confidence to the group. So really its a no brainer, see you all next year!!

Only if the 2 team promotion and relegation system gets a vote "for" at the next delegates meeting HBF. That could be interesting.
