Scotland has done well tonight with two players of Scottish decent being inducted, McLeod and McIntosh

Congratulations to Don McSweeney, a man I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking football with a number of times in the last few years. A wonderful man.
Putting his achievements into perspective against those of other inductees, well worth it.

Will be interesting in coming years to see if someone like Matt Slade with 8 Premierships is deemed worthy given that his career was played from around 2000 onwards or whether inductees will only be selected if they have an AFL background. Arguments either way I guess...
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Am I right in saying Macca was an all Australian? I know he played against Ireland but its not mentioned in his achievements.

I would suggest in years to come Justin Cicolella would have to be included - Eagles and SANFL legend!

Would be disappointing and disgraceful if in the future blokes such as Cicolella, Gowans X2, Matty Slade, Jade Sheedy couldnt make the half of fame based on not having an AFL background.

Roy Laird will be another who must be considered when he retires... coached for 7 SANFL premierships with maybe more to come.


My understanding is that critieria is based on contribution to South Australian Football.
