I reckon Bowen would do quite well as coach if he was in that role (although for any player/coach its a challenging role).

He does not appear to me to be the stereotypical "dumb ruckman".

Re Motlop, would be interesting to know his historical suspension tally. He may not be that close yet, but isn't it a life ban after a total of 15 games throughout a career? Although apparently AFL games suspended are halved I believe.

From memory, he received 5 games in the NT League in their previous season. Not sure of his exact total of suspensions from Port, NM and North Adelaide.

May possibly become an issue for him, not necessarily this season, but in the next 2 or 3 years of his playing career.

Before everyone jumps on motlops back, two very soft yellow cards yesterday. Really good win by the bears, being a man down for 20 mins and having a lot of players unavailable yesterday

Great win by Meningie yesterday considering they were without one for part of last quarter. I know why Motlop got one card, could hear it from the sideline, calling an umpire a cheat. Diddles also get yellow carded this year for the same remark so can't complain with the consistency of umps there. no idea what the second one was for. but does it really matter? he's the coach and should be setting an example for the wonderful young players the bears have in smart, ferenci and richardson.

Sounds all too familiar hopper. Motlop gets sent off all the time and everyone jumps to his defence. And sounds another case of this right hear. Pretty sure everyone can see right through him by now. About time he just concentrated on playing and coaching before he stuffs up a really good chance of possibly going all the way this year. Pretty simple i reckon shut ya mouth coach ya team and play some decent footy is all that needs to be done. Everyone would be getting really sick of hearing it. Motlop sent off again this week and then someone jumping to his defence.

Na well said, I'm not excusing it just stated they where soft yellows. But if you keep your mouth shut it wouldn't happen in the first place!!

i think you will find that every Yellow/Red card is defended by someone, maybe not on a forum such as this but i guess being a high profile player woiuld make it more of a talking point.

i didnt see or hear the first card for calling the umpire a cheat but the second card was definatley more warranted, maybe not Yellow card worthy but i guess after being sent off already in the game you dont get much leniency.

i believe 3 Yellow cards during the season means 1 game on the sidelines (1 last week, 2 yesterday), not sure if 2 in one game would make a difference. knowing the umpire that gave the first "cheat" call a yellow it will be more like 5 :) (he certaninly has a history of being given this label)

If only the game at meningie ended 4 minutes earlier, ah well cont complain too much as it was a great match to watch. It was good to see alot of the boys who had been quiet recently improve this week. I'm not going to bang on about motlop but agree with the others he just needs to shut up on field and get on with the game and be a leader.
There were only two other down points about yesterday, firstly there were only 6 under 9's playing for the bears yesterday and that is twice now this year we have come down to find such a small amount of players and no one from the bears seemed to be in charge of the kids other than ring-ins we even had to umpire it, are there no kids left in the meningie area do they even have an under 9's coach? The other grades seem ok but not the real youngins but at least all the kids had a crack. Secondly the hot chips need more cooking too many hard ones in there  .

Well done though bears you are looking pretty good.

Of course there is a football market.

All it is, is factors (demand...as well as supply), that determine a player's wage. Factors such as the points system; age; the level to which the player previously reached - eg. SANFL or AFL experience.

If there was no market, all players would be paid the same, or nothing.

Interested to know which club in the RMFL has 'made an offer' to Ladhams? as reported in the Standard. It could only be Tailem, Mypo or Meningie? The MB teams don't pay the amounts being reported and I would have heard something if Mannum were in the chase.

I've heard whispers that's he's possibly being linked to imps, as much as the imps boys on here will argue against that, but who knows its all rumour and innuendo one would think.

Might be just staying at Jervois but not coaching

From what I hear he wont be just playing at the Bluds. I would put my left nut on it being Tailem. Imps wouldn't be able to bankroll the ladams ego.

I'd be very surprised if it was Tailem, especially if they're planning on keeping their 4 current ex SANFL (Sturt) players.

I know nothing personally. I'd imagine they'd advertise the position after the season finishes.

How much would a senior coach of a country side be paid? I imagine there is some money involved.
