Does anyone else rate Nathan Jones from Melbourne, over the years has been some what of the whipping boy at melbourne and maybe looking for a change. IMO hes the kind of midfielder / player we need. tough, gets his own footy, kicks goals and always has a crack. just a thought, dont no what his contract and so on are at Melbourne but hes the kind of bloke i would like to see running around in a power jumper, this is all if Boak was definatly asking for a trade

I do .. He's not elite level, but I'd put him on the rung below (very good footballer), probably about where I'd have Boak.

His rejection of the current offer may be a sign of him moving on, however, it could also be that he wants to see who is appointed as coach before deciding his future.

While I was watching that GWS/Port game I thought no way will they pull the trigger on Primus until after they've stitched up Boak's contract.

While watching the Port / GWS game I was hoping our board wouldn't opt for a knee jerk reaction and call an "extraordinary meeting" which was never going to remain secret and we all knew the content of the meeting.

Who cares if he goes, he is over-rated IMO and if we lose him, we lose him and move on and try either get someone else or start from scratch with a draft pick.

I have never seen Boak dominate a game or be a clear BOG, don't know what all the fuss is about really, he is an average player that looks good at times because everyone else around him is sh1t.

Geelong is offering their Ablett compensation pick according to the age
http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/boa ... 23qew.html
PORT Adelaide midfielder Travis Boak is on the verge of signing a deal that would see him play at Geelong for the next three years.

Boak's about-face - he had been considered likely to stay with the Power in recent weeks - comes as a direct result of Port's decision not to reappoint Matthew Primus, who yesterday walked away from the club after an unsuccessful two-year tenure as coach.

During the announcement, both president Brett Duncanson and CEO Keith Thomas were adamant Boak, the club's reigning best and fairest, would stay at the club. ''He has told us he wants to stay,'' Thomas said.

But it is understood that Boak, 24, met his management yesterday afternoon and expressed that he had changed his mind and wanted to pursue the opportunity to play for Geelong. For this to happen, the Cats would need to reach agreement with Port in regard to compensation, otherwise Boak may enter the draft and be selected by another club.

Boak is worth more than 1 pick id think.
Would think the Cats would also have to offer up a player aswell.

Not a great player, but the reigning Best and Fairest....tells you something about the calibre of the players at Port.

If you look at all the teams, you could pick at least one midfielder that could slot into a top side no problem, except Port IMO.

Boak would be one of their best players, but I dont think being the best of the worst means Port could demand a heap of compensation from Geelong, or whoever he ends up wanting to go to.

If he does go to the Roos, I dont think he'll be an automatic starter in the midfield. He would most likely be a back flanker. And even then he would have some competition to hold onto his spot in the side.

interesting that Chris Scott has said he believes nothing has changed in regards to Boak
