Adelaide Footy League Talk

Fudd, they lost to Salisbury Nth (at Salisbury) in round 1 by 3 pts then lost to Gaza by 34 pts. From what I hear Gaza are going to be the measuring stick in Div 1 this year.

Also in their loss to Salisbury Nth ROCs had 23 scoring shots to 19, I think this week we might see them get over the line for their first win.

bad kicking is bad footy at the end of the day they lost i think its great salisbury north are doing well maybe they will now see a youthfull team is much better than a team full of guys that use to be good so they dont have to train anymore i think you'll find the ttg boys will be sick of it half way through the year aswell i know i would be .

Don't think Gaza will continue the run they have had, pretty easy draw for them so far, see what happens when they hit up against Goodwood, Broadview and looks like TTG. Rostrevor in a bit of trouble and just quietly i'm not too shattered about that.

Maybe with the departure of Gerardis, the Gaza boys can concentrate on playing footy, & not worry about whether the valuables bag will still be intact after the game...

Sounds like a Lawrence Angwin situation and we all know how well that kid ended up.

Did Adam Raphael end up re signing with Salisbury North this year? Rumour has it there was a issue with his match payments or something? or did he just hang up the boots? thanks

Towns will struggle to win a couple of games- not sure where mail is from but not many new faces- and definitely new faces not really quality- in fact I heard one of their big recruits (so called at the beginning of the year) may be dropped to 2's already?- Well coached- couple of good players (Golding, Landorf, Stevenson, Johnson+ kids Cornish, Twelftree) then not much else!

Surprising that they haven't recruited better. Townies have always had a good reputation, good supporters, club is relatively close to city, not many close by competiting clubs. You'd think they would have been able to nab some disgruntled Glenelg and West reserves plays and juniors. Maybe they don't have the money to bring in better players, or are paying some of their bigger names too much.

I think prospective recruits were aware of the major losses from 2006 and thus may have been spooked- I think they have dough, just no one to give it to.
While I have not seen any games I have heard that Button is struggling at the minute.

Carey, have you got mail about TTG players thoughts on training habits or are you assuming the "recruits" aren't training?

Big game today Adelaide Uni v ROC, both teams without a win.

Uni seem to be getting a few more players back and as it is being played at Uni oval I would think that they will be singing their song after the game.

No real surprises, watched the Rocs v Uni "Blockbuster". Average game. Both will continue to struggle. Heard that Broadview were only 1 goal down at one stage in last 1/4 then got pumped by 10 goal, looks like they haven't changed from last year.

nah mate just know that when pascoe , pitt and co were at salisbury north training was'nt high in there thought process they'd come out on the oval run a lap have 10-15 shots on goal and call it a night . dont get me wrong good players but the point i'm making is at salisbury north the for a better word ' 2nd tear ' players were getting pissed off that they were busting there ass to stay in or get in the ' A ' grade whilst these blokes got a free ride .

Looks like Goodie Saints have hit their stride but its time for the myth about not paying out much cash to be destroyed. Spoke to Adrian Burton and he told me he is getting $300 per game so if you assume the likes of Demasi, Webb, Illman, Spencer and Kells are also up around that mark you can see that money is not an issue.

Sharky, do you know if Uni had more of their senior players from last year in their team? saw that their reserves won so I assume some senior players are returning.
