Then the last couple of months are just gonna be huge blowouts. And since the AFL is in the entertainment business, I dont think many people would rate that. How about teams try their hardest to win every match they are involved in and worry about the Draft after the season. The difference between Pick 1 and Pick 10 isnt great enough to throw games in a professional league. Pretty sure a few Pakistani crickets went to the slammer for deliberatly lossing...sure they did it for money, but AFL clubs are doing it to rig the draft, which has a flow on effect to the rest of the 17 teams.

Human nature mate and it's running a business, when your stock price is high you up production, when it is low you focus on maintenance, if a season is dead and buried it's time to trial a few things and get some of your commodities fixed to have a positive start to the following season.

Not the worse idea either!

Only question mark is would the draw have too big an impact?

Only fair way to have the draft is on a rotation so the club with 1st pick this year, gets 18th next year, 2nd the year after, then 17th, 3rd etc etc. Each round would be set up like this, and from there the clubs are able to trade as they like.
Perhaps to decide the first year's order could be a lottery of 9-18 for picks 1-9 and then of 1-8 for picks 10-18.

The AFL questions the clubs yet they are the worse offenders in my eyes, how can Port play Adelaide twice despite finishing opposite ends of the table last season and they are yet to play GWS?
The AFL are so focussed on marketability that they don't care about making the comp even unless it suits them.
I was under the presumption that the teams that finish in the top 8 play each other twice and the rest once and vice versa, I don't see that happening.

The part that made me laughed the most was he stated he didnt like the culture at Melbourne during the tanking process,so he went to Carlton that did the same previously to claim Kreuzer.

I dont really see an issue with tanking, obviously its not the most 'ethical' but i mean if the opportunity is there and the rules allow it why not take full opportunity?!

Regardless, it is strange that a side finishing further down the ladder has a tougher draw than a club finishing 2 spots higher up.

For the Crows to get 2 games against both GWS and GC, and Port one against both, indicates a few things about the AFL's mentality with regard to fixturing.

Port vs GWS or GC isn't very good for ratings.

Had to laugh at Vlad talking about Tanking. His administration created it with the priority draft pick. What a goose.
