Apparantly the club to meet association officials this month.
Birdwood President claiming they cant continue on in Hills Country next season.
I think the Netball will be their major stumbling block in getting acceptance to our league

there's a very easy way for birdwood to get out of country division next year. they just need to have their a grade make the grand final and ask to be promoted back to central division. saves the hassle of changing leagues.

I sincerely believe it'd be easier to go to another league and recruit netballers over a two season build up than it would to stay and run the gamble of waiting for answers and outcomes.
The BL&G league are far better managed and would be quite accomodating of a new club and assisting them to get netball up (the current netball comp could remain a bye weekend). Plus the BL&G have been keen on returning to a 10 team competition for quite a while.
Good on the Roosters for taking matters into their own hands! I know for a fact that there has been correspondence to the league in the past few months regarding 2013 promotion/relegations, teams, comp structure and to date there has been NO response; not even a thanks for the letter we'll be in touch! So after reaching out that way and getting nothing I applaud Birdwood!

Imagine if the HFL continue to sit on their hands; cally and maccy go missing and birdwood leave... that's 3 teams in 12 months! hahahaha if that doesn't get a rocket up ya nothing will. My bet is nothing will.....

Think it could be a good move for the Birdwood lads if they are keen for a few years of pain it will be worth it.
Did it when I was at Barossa Districts and we copped our fair share of 20 goal beltings in the first few years but you only have to look at the club now to see its the best decision they made.
What is your Junior gradings up there now as they might have to change a couple of age groups to fit in with us but thats only a small tinkering.
Not sure about the Netball, I understood that the 11 grades are a must to enter the comp or have our bosses softened their view on this?

Yes Jim05 the Barossa and Gawler League is so much better than the Hills. What is it, Tanunda have won the last 25 premierships and have only dropped a couple of games during those seasons. And you are from Gawler South. They are zooming ahead as a club. How long since you have won a flag?

Good luck to Birdwood if they want to play there but don't go rating yourself above the Hills because as I remember it we previously played association games and you guys got sick of being smashed and so pulled the pin.

All I will say is that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the hill.

Sorry Monte can't seem to find where Jim05 stated that the BL&G is much better than the Hills, If you could point that out that would be great.....
All he said was it was a great move from Barossa Districts if you look at where the club is now. I think you might want to get of your high horse.

What it is worth I think you would find that all clubs would be happy to see a 10th team in the comp. Good on Birdwood for being proactive.

Not saying it is so much better, only going on my experience. I was involved at Barossa Districts when we won multiple flags in Hills Country and we went to the BL&GFA as reigning premiers and thought we had a decent side. We copped several 20 goal floggings over our first couple of years. Not to say that will happen to Birdwood.

They would struggle against the top sides but would be OK against the lower ones, like they were their last year of Hills Central.

They are certainly better placed to go to BL&G than they were when they went up to Hills Central in 07. But they are still better off for it now than had they remained down.

I think where our A-Grade would finish in the first year or two isn't super relevant...though I'd imagine we'd be somewhere near the middle. This IMO would be all to do with the club in general, and especially juniors... Birdwood have had one of the best juniors programs for years and years, and the current state of the Country Div Juniors is impossible to move forward with.
Be very interesting to see how this all pans out.

I think this year in the BLG it has been alot more even now aswell with about six teams in with a chance to make finals untill the last couple of weeks. I think it would be good if we had Birdwood in our comp. It may take a couple of years for them to challenge but in end the i think it would be a wise move.

If Birdwood were to go to BLG, Echunga were to go up as mooted, and Cally were to dissapear - Bridgewater could come down to leave 10 teams in Central and 8 in Country (tho two of these would be Maccy and Sed/Cam). 6 teams in CGrade as it currently exists and there is some sort of symmetry. Not sure what this would mean to Junior Country Comp tho

If we're honest the junior country comp is practically dead which is sad for the clubs with juniors and who dont struggle for numbers.

As stated previously Maccy could be reduced to one senior team at best next season while Sedan are also looking for outside options which might see them make the shift to Riverland....

The rumour about Sedan looking at the Riverland is completely unfounded......

The rumour has gone from RMFL to Indies and now back again. No discussions of any sort have taken place at club level, and no one has come asking. If the club is forced into a one team C Grade, then the situation could change.

Yes it was embarasing for the club to have a large number of kids playing B grade then 8 B graders playing A grade its time to shut the doors ,must give the coach and players who turned up some credit but i think its all over

Any more thoughts on the Mail Medal?

I don't know if it will come from the Big 3. Echunga spread the love with their votes and past medalists James, Pearce and McGahey through one reason or another haven't had their best seasons. I'm thinking it might come from a good player in a terrible team. Thinking Danielle at Maccy, Quinno at Gum and probably the favourite Wakefield at Kangy. Thoughts?

Edwards, Jennings or Carey at Echunga
Miller, Farrugia or Pearce at Kersbrook
Morris Birdwood
Ashby Gums
Wakefield Kangy
Surely Callington, Sedan, Maccy and even Kangy and Gums have not won enough games to warrant big votes though which is why it should come from the top 2-3
