Brighton V Morphett Vale -m/vale by 10-15 goals to strong
Morphville pk V Southern Hawks -m/ville by 8-10 goal could be closer if southern hawks are switched on
Christies V Pt.Noarlunga -porties by 5-10 goals will still be a good side dispite losing players
Marion V Noarlunga - noarlunga by 1-3 goals closest game of the round could go either way
Lonsdale V Cove - cove 12-15 goals to strong up foward for the lions
Reynella V Happy Valley-happy valley 10-15 up and running at the moment reynella still learing game plan
just for fun this is my tips for this week

Holy Crap............If this is your idea of a good round with some very close games, I will watch with interest to see the rounds when the results are blowouts!!

Ever hear of hard work and a blah blah blah....Here's a positive spin for ya Gringo...MVale have been successful the last 3-4 years as they have maintained the same playing group...tell me Gringo - is this because they are on home detention and can't leave the MVale area. Most of the other successful clubs have a very small window as their players go travelling / Uni / try their luck at league level etc etc etc.

Mvale

M Vale's success rate is due to being in such a big area and good coaching at a Jnr level.

they have more single mums with 15 kids than any area. even over smackem west.

Maybe also something to do with how the club treats their players. For all the 'ferals' in the area they must be doing something right to be able to retain all those juniors without breaking the bank. Why havent the clubs in nicer areas been able to do the same? Thats probably a greater concern i would of thought?

Cove have been getting better for each of the past 4-5 seasons. Were still probly 8-10 goals off last year from Reynella and Morphies. Everyone i think is interested to see what the new coach and a few new recruits can do. I think they play Valleys soon so that will provide a decent indication whether the cobras are premiership contenders this season.

Not sure if your mail is accurate hotdogs. I would suggest M/Vale has the same "window" as other clubs. M/Vale have lost premiership players in Byrne, Nadilo & Zaluski to overseas travel this year, not to mention a couple of B graders. Another premiership player Hodge has gone to Victor Harbor. Then you can add Hill out due to injury. Many of the M/Vale squad has also tried its "luck" at league level at some stage, but for whatever reason stayed loyal to their grass roots and returned to M/Vale. It would be interesting to see how many league players come from which local clubs in the comp. Perhaps the most positive spin is that M/Vale has been able to cover their losses.

Isnt he a key Forward??? (kicked 6 in round 1, not sure about round 2). not many key forwards poll well in the mail medal. Would be an interesting stat if any one knew the last time a key forward won the mail medal. anyway, maybe hes more of a chance to lead the goalkicking than win the mail medal especially know cove are premiership contenders they should kick plenty of goals. What possie does he mostly play???

I agree with you Lova, that is if he is a forward. If the medal was ever going to go to a key forward Steve "Bomber" Ryan would have won it a couple years back when he kicked well over 100 goals. My mail is that Reavill came from the Bay last year and didn't have a great year, perhaps he's now adjusted to the league and playing some good footy. I'll have to check out one of my grand final "Boots" to see where the most recent winners have played. On ballers come to mind immediately i.e. Bachman (Vick - one of the league's finest moments i'm sure), Prescott, Betterman, Exelby over the years... With absolutely no disrespect to Bachman (cause he can play), how does this happen when your team only wins a handful of games during the year with the majority of your loses being large ones..??

Once again "Frankfurt" your intelligence (lack of) has shone through. It would be fair to say that most of The Vales players grew up in the area but i would estimate that 30-40% would still reside there, due to housing estates and getting into the housing markets, such "Classy" suburbs as Woodcroft, Seaford, Sheidow Park, Hallet Cove..... Are these suburbs up to your lofty standards...?? If you think that Morphett Vale have maintained the same playing group in the last few years you are again mistaken, the core yes, but if you have been involved in a successful club of any sort you too would understand that there is a changeover of players each and every year, The Dutchman summed it up quite well i thought, he named 5 or so players that are not at Morphett Vale this year, that's 25% if you didn't know... Underlay Yippa...

M Reavill is a wingman midfield type player and obviously a very offensive one. D Reavill is the key forward. J Ramsey polled really well last year in the mail medal was in the top 10 and i think, by memory, he was theo nly key forward to get in the top 10 and late in the count was leading. I agree the meday is mainly won by midfield players ill also have some money on M Reavill my concern is Vick and Ramsey taking votes off him though, Only due to them polling well last year!!!

If thats the case, expect them to make the finals and bomb out in straight sets. Shockin track record at Gaza, gets totally outcoached in the big games.

Cheers Jono, if hes a wingman kicking 6 goal and racking up possies you just could be right. will have to keep my eye on his name in the sunday mail. Ramsey is a pretty good player but when ive seen him play the bigger games with quality opponents he seems to be a little quite. IMO. Still he can certainly take a grab and kick a good footy.
