Previous evidence provided by UK Fan suggests $14.75M paid to the PAFC. The fact that UK Fan can't even get his own evidence correct suggests a need to do more research to support his argument.

I look forward to that evidence determining the Dividend paid into SANFL coffers by Port Adelaide from 1997-2007, IN ADDITION to paying back the License Fee.

I think UK even makes mention of that $14m figure in his signature. I like his signature, it means so much to me.

Shhh youll give away who my quote is from. ;)

Richmond are the latest team to announce they'll have a stand alone reserves side, to start in 2014.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

That will make Geelong, Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond all with their own reserves sides by 2014 along with all the NSW & QLD teams.

It's looking inevitable there will be a major shake up at the level below AFL in the coming years and it's hard to see an AFL Reserves competition not being created once again.

Lots of questions and different outcomes that will effect our competition...
Will the SANFL remain 9 clubs without any AFL listed players and completely separate from the AFL?
Will Port Magpies remain in the SANFL?
Will the SANFL decide it is better to retain players and interest within our state competition and admit reserves sides for the Crows and Power to the SANFL?
Will the less financial clubs in the SANFL offer to become reserves sides for our AFL teams as a way of survival?
Will the SANFL expand to incorporate the stronger VFL clubs who have been messed around for years by the AFL?

The SANFL and our clubs took some blows in the 80's with the poaching of many of the best SANFL players, then a huge hit when the Crows came in 1991 and another big hit when Port Power entered the AFL in 1997. The 15 years since has seen some rebuilding and consolidation but it seems we are destined for change once again. It will be interesting to see what happens?

If there is an AFL reserves comp it will mean the SANFL will become a complete stand alone competition.

It would spell the end of the Port Magpies as there would be no way Port could afford to run 3 teams especially considering a 'reserves' side would run at a loss.

AFL lists would have to be increased to cater for the extra players need to fill reserves sides etc etc. You would think the amount of rookie spots on AFL lists would be increased to around the 10 mark. For me the best way for the AFL would be to increase the rookie lists but also have an ge restriction something along the lines of 8/10 rookies must be 20 years or under as an example.

This would also spell the end of the Foxtel Cup as you would presume they would use the time slot to show AFL reserves games in a similar way they do for the NRL's Toyoto Cup.

Todays paper says 70% want reserves teams. I dont remember voting

If Port/Crows get reserves teams in SANFL I wont follow it anymore as it will become like the VFL.

I notice Dennis Cometti speaking against the reserves sides saying footy is more than just the AFL

David King is a state league product (Port melbourne) so Im shocked on his view

Is the data from that footy fan survey? That was a load of carp as also in the same survey they asked to rate the attractiveness of both players and their WAGS. Now any serious football fan is not going to waste their time on that garbage

The SANFL has already said no to any AFL reserves teams competing in our comp.

If the Crows and Power want them so badly then they should lobby the AFL to set up a National Reserves Comp or go play in the VFL. At least that would rid us of the Magpies and return to an 8 team comp (providing Sturt don't fall over  ).

The large majority of those polled and the majority on forums like thepowerfromport have no clue about the logistics and massive costs of fielding a ressies side along with the obvious question is how do they top up their lists and field teams half way through the year when they have a big injury list? Perfect example was Freo last year who could only, near the last game of the year, field / select from only 20 fit players off their whole list. Plus the majority of Port people are oblivious to the fact that if the PAFC get a AFL Reserves side the Magpies die and so do the B&W colours!

Sell them back their licences, divide up some of the dividend the SANFL gets to roll out across the SANFL to help the debt levels of all clubs then let us get on with running our own stand alone comp! Also sick of Port and Crow fans whinging about how much revenue they pump into the SANFL and that our clubs are raping and bellding them dry! BOLLOCKS, I am sick of the whole debate - time the SANFL tell them to piss off!

The SANFL telling the AFL to piss off. Yep, and it's everyone else who has flawed logic.

Sadly the SANFL does need AFL dollars from ground hire and grants.

The SANFL said no to lots things...... to joining the AFL, to the Port clubs merging, to ever dealing with the SACA: how did that turn out? Each year as more people care about Taylor Walkers banal tweets than Norwood's great form the SANFL loses its grip as football masters.

Freo and West Coast spent one season where they aligned directly with South Freo and Claremont. Guess who finished top and how long that project lasted. I hope this is cited why reserves are a bad idea. If the Crows want to try and bump the SANFL to ten teams then both clubs would need top up players - where would they come from????? they would need to pay a transfer to any SANFL player

We cant let the Power kill the Magpies - they are the oldest club in comp. Sure there was a time when they didnt care about the others: but this is a league and those in a league stick together.

I am not proposing that but if AFL Reserves teams come in the the PAFC cannot (and would not) 3 teams let alone the Magpie Reseves and Under 18's as they exist now - you will find the PAFC will kill them off internally!

Sorry should have been clearer - tell the Crows and Port to piss off if they want reserves side. the SANFL already has given them both an emphatic NO re reserves teams in our comp.

That was good, nice to hear Victorians agreeing that the VFL/AFL setup is a basket case at the moment.
Email it to Mr Rucci.

Can't wait until the SANFL off load the AFL licences and they are playing at Wind Tunnel Oval in front of piss poor crowds against crap teams like Melbourne. I'll keep going to Unley, Norwood and even the Ponderosa thanks very much!
That Rucci, god love him, he gives me such entertainment with his biased slant on everything it's great to think he will be there squirming in luxury at the Wind Tunnel, wondering how the Power can make a profit from 12,000 people again!

At that point will you cease your squealing about not receiving the AFL dividend to prop up your football department?

And I still laugh at supporters of a hybrid club that merged because one half had no money, the other half had no supporters and still plays in front of next to no-one.

Yeah cos its Port $40K annual dividends that is make or break for every sanfl club.

I wouldn't be giving supporters of opposition clubs a lecture about squealing if I was you port Adelaide fans. ;)

Do you mean the dividend we get from the AFL via the SANFL to run the AFLs development program's like the TAC and WAFL clubs or the dividend we got from the SANFL which all SANFL clubs have got to fund positions at the club since the 1970s? That dividend comes from money from footy park games which your club was happy to receive when Sturt and Norwood would draw the same crowd as a port v gold coast game! When Bucky was planning your move into the AFL in the mid 90s he did it from a position which was part funded by the SANFL!
