Apart from a few soft patches in and around the cricket pitch, it's actually in pretty good condition.. much better than last Saturday.

Well it'd want to be a a lot better than last Saturday, that was some of the worst conditions seen at the Creek for many years.
The surface has dried out and if there's no further rain the going will be fast.. 5 mm of rain and it'll turn turn into a mud heap like last week.
The cricket pitch square and most of the goal to goal line up the centre is pretty devoid of grass after being submerged in the mud last week. The oval and cricket pitches have been rolled and resembles a typical sub continent pitch prepared specifically for spinners.

Tips for round 13

Strath to beat Compass by 17 pts.

Bays by 46 over Goolwa/P.E.

Creeks by 22 over McLaren

What about the old fellas in the b's yesterday snagging a few and showing the youngsters how its done. Follett 10, Whiterod 5, Bull 4, Clarke 2. What's the average age of those guys?

Mid 40s ?

What about the result of the Creek v McLaren in the 'B's?

Many many years (limb may be able to confirm) since the Creeks have had a win over them and didn't they do it in style? Just the lazy 17 goals.

It was a good old fashioned thumping with mclaren scoreless at half time, its no excuse as the creek were very good but with about 15 out who you would think would play the reserves side is a shadow of what it was earlier on in the season, the top 3rd spot in the reserves is well and truly up for grabs, follett was on fire imo opinion we should have put one of the kids on him when the game was over just for the experience...

Yes I was amazed by that too. Full of admiration for Tim (and envy that he can still do it!).

after seeing yank, willunga and the creeks in the last 5 weeks im putting it out there that willunga will miss there first gf in 9 years i know they just beat yank but i reckon thats more mental than anything else and when it comes to the business end they will get it done, and with creeks getting 3 quality players back in their side im tipping them as the side to beat for me it will be a yank v creek gf and with the way their 2's played on the weekend could do the double, whats worse is their 17's are sitting top as well so it could be a treble, good time to be a creek supporter i would have thought!!

Yeah my money is still well and truly on Creeks. Not sure who they will play as Willunga were ordinary against Victor in round 1 but I still think it will probably be them.

Totally agree with you. I tipped the creek as the team to beat a month ago then straight after they lost to willunga in the wet, the same as they did in last years semi in the wet. So in saying this i think the only way creek will get beaten is if it is a extremely wet and boggy september, which would curb creeks skill and pace. They still have some handy players to come back in footner and norman.
In the ressies willunga are know where near as strong as they have been over the years. Which finally gives someone else a good shot at it & i think it will be the creek who are slowly starting to get a full team on the park taking them on in the gf. Mclaren won't know what to do this year, as there a grade and ressies will be in the finals together for the first time in over 5 years. Won't be able to stack the two's like normal :)

Big call tipping Willunga to miss the GF when it looks as if they will finish top and straight into the 2nd semi for a double chance at the GF.
Creeks are certainly a big chance to go back to back BUT the reality is that they're still in 4th position and unless they can get 3rd, it's gonna be extremely tough for them. Still need E.Bay to lose at least 1 match whilst remaining undefeated themselves for the rest of the season certainly isn't a formality.
Wouldn't be completely dismissing the Bays either, especially if they can hold 3ed spot.
As for the Creeks 'B' grade, they're certainly starting to put it together after a sluggish start to the season. Having some depth to their playing list for the 1st time for quite a few years makes a big difference.
U/17s are sitting top and undefeated but are far from being good things to win the flag tho. If they dowin it, it would be a deserving reward for coach Clark and his loyal assistents who have put in a huge effort over the last 5 years or so without the ultimate reward after coming so close on a couple of occassions.

Picking gf teams now there's a lot of factors.

In the a's I don't know why we are letting bays slip under the radar. On a nice day in mid sept Davis and welsh could be dangers. Bays beat creek without welsh? Double chance and there up to there eyeballs right in it.

In the 2s it comes down to who will be on the park. I'm sure not many reserves teams play with a consistent 21. I'd be wary of the 4tg placed team. 5 to come in, a's gone and currently have the best form line

Welsh played against the Creeks BOTH times they played for a win and a loss.
Definitely agree Bays are a legitimate chance if they hold 3rd spot.

I'm happy with my $100 on yank at $9. Was that Johnny Gastev holding that bet? Do agree with bays being a danger but would definitely need the double chance.

B's is a mystery. You'd think Willunga are in cruise mode but like most years you would like to be the team there on the last day to challenge just in case you catch them on an off day.

Interesting that Willunga have only lost one game to Victor which you could chalk up as a brain fade, yet are now not considered to make the gf.
I think the convincing thing to put them up the top was beating Langhornes at home, the only issue being that McGregor didn't play who is a big difference in the middle and up forward.
When it comes down to it not one team in the top 5 have beaten Willunga and until they do I would expect them to atleast play in the gf.

Big game for the Bays this weekend, if they can beat Willunga then they hold off Langhornes and have a fair chance of holding third. Also allowing Yank to take back top spot.

In the Bs I think any of the top four have a chance on their day. It may come down to injuries and who gets qualified for As or Bs with Goolwa/Pt Elliot being the only team without the As in finals.

Currently:
Willunga 12 wins, run home: EB, ST, VH, MC, GO
Yank 11 wins, run home GO, LC, ST, McL, EB
Bays 9 wins, run home WI, MC, MY, ST, YA
Creeks 8 wins, run home MC, YA, GO, VH, MY

Assuming all 4 manage to beat the sides outside the 4.
Key games – EB v WI, LC v YA, EB v YA

Possible scenarios:
WI YA EB LC
17 14 13 13 - WI d EB, LC d YA, EB d YA
17 15 13 12 - WI d EB, YA d LC, EB d YA
17 16 12 12 - WI d EB, YA d LC, YA d EB
17 15 12 13 - WI d EB, LC d YA, YA d EB
16 14 14 13 - EB d WI, LC d YA, EB d YA
16 15 14 12 - EB d WI, YA d LC, EB d YA
16 16 13 12 - EB d WI, YA d LC, YA d EB
16 15 13 13 - EB d WI, LC d YA, YA d EB

All pie-in-the-sky stuff but Willunga are highly likely to finish top from here.
Yank can still pinch top, or finish 3rd on % but most likely to be second.
Bays can pinch second on %, or finish 4th but 3rd is most likely.
Creek can only get 3rd by beating Yank (at LC) and hoping Bays don't beat both Will and Yank (both at EB) - if Bays win 1 then it will be a question of %.

Once again, that assumes all 4 manage to beat the sides outside the 4. Anyone think there will be any upsets from here on?
