That was true but it proves it can be done.
By the way as a slow starter and fast finisher how many trades do you have left, and how many do you plan for your finals campaign?
I have just looked at my team last year and it was significantly better than this year with the same number of trades used which allowed me to finish top, however, I was also looking at overall score to try to qualify for the Champions league that way.

Competing in the Champions League is what has made me keep using trades this year. Its the strongest league I am in, so have strived to make the finals but too do so has eaten up my trades. Bloody tough comp and still no certainty to make finals

Traditionally I like to keep 1 for each week left in the season (including finals). Having said that, I've used more trades than I had last year... Need a few weeks with my players deciding not to get injured!

Yes Rounds 16 to 19 last year I did not need to trade at all, so I hope for the same.

Yeah mate I am in Div 2 but thought if I do well in Champions League I should have a good enough team for my other leagues.

My Champions League approach is 'I'm no bloody chance so concentrate on Hogg Premier'. ;)
