Thats what I was getting at dee man. If clubs like TTG, Henley etc did not do there best to improve their teams from what they started the year with (hence the influx of ex A graders to TTG) our comp would not be so tight and played at a decent standard. Mitchell Park are the bench mark and the rest of us have been doing our best to catch them.

Some big games this week.

Nth Pines V Modbury - Massive game for both teams. Sitting even on wins and both would be desperate to make the 5
Flinders Park V SHOC - Flinders Park would not want to drop this but SHOC also need to win to keep their faint hope of making finals alive.
Flinders Uni V Angle Vale - Angle Vale will be looking for a percentage booster here, with percentage possibly becoming a factor in deciding final ladder positions.
Henley V Smithfield - Could this be a percentage booster for Henley? Will depend which Smithfield team turns up as they are dangerous when switched on.
Mitchell Park V TTG - Match of the round for sure. Battle of the heavy weights of this div. Will be a great game.

Feel free to discuss.

Does anyone else think that Flinders Park D grade are sandbagging?
Their C's aren't exactly setting the world on fire, and there are some really talented players running around in their D's which IMO should be playing higher.

WTF!! Our C grade are trying to make finals bud. No sandbagging at Flinders Park. We have lost a heap of players overseas since the start of the year and been struggling with injuries. We are just very even as you get down the grades.

I would have thought blokes like Urdanoff and Spurgeon would have been up in the 3's

Tate has played a couple and so has Urdanoff. I think our C grade sides have been strong but just not performing like we can. The thing i couldn't understand is how there is such a big gap between the A's and B's in this grade. With the exception of a couple of sides the depth just isnt there. Then there is the situation where as it is our D grade a lot of lads don't train much or have to work now and then. Selection every week is a bit tough as the call around normally happens most Thursday/Fridays

MegaNeck wrote:Hardly "recruiting" Yank Man. Just mates coming out to have a kick together again. And despite your best efforts to deflect any attention brought to it, we all know who the side to beat is ;) Your boys are a very well drilled unit and solid all over the park, I would call it an upset if we get the better of you this weekend, especially on your home deck.

Bigshow, I thought your boys played very well on Saturday and really had us on the ropes. Really proud of the way our lads responded, and as you said Mounty definitely lead the way. Most of the game was played in good spirits, excluding a couple of minor incidents. But all in all a good hard contest.

Unfortunately, the day was marred by a certain slightly intoxicated gentleman (and I use the terms "slightly" and "gentleman" very loosely) strolling into our changerooms after the game telling us next time, when he plays, you are going to smash us and that we are f@*king shit. When politely told that if that's all he had to say he should leave. He proceeded to tell me that I had a target on my back and that I was most certainly f@*ked and he would indeed be smashing me on our next encounter. This prompted me to not-so-politely tell him to get out of the changerooms. Luckily cooler heads than mine were present, whom further politely encouraged him to please leave. After a few more minutes of him yelling about how we were shit they eventually got him out the door. Unbelievably he continued to refuse to leave the front of the changerooms and even sharply shoved one of our players (who had only calmly been trying to get him out of there) in the chest. Luckily, a couple of your guys showed up and got him to settle down and leave.

I realise you probably don't condone this sort of behaviour, but this reflects VERY badly on your club. This guy was an absolute disgrace and if you want to improve your club going forward, I would keep this guy as far away from it as possible. As I said, unfortunate, but has left a very sour taste to what was otherwise a good day of footy.

Welcome MegaNeck. Great to see you and Haynzy representing the Gullies on the forum. Lets face it the more of your guys that post with passion, the better off Div 7 is regarded. No I am not deflecting on us, just a bit of fun, but you guys have really done a great job with getting the guns back to play C's. Interestingly enough I have coached against most of them when you were in Div 1 and Div 2 a few years ago so my stats on them are easy, "respect". They are mates, done their real time, and now want to put something back, been their done that. Massive respect for it. For what it's worth we are seriously looking forward to what will be our greatest challenge, so come and say hello, it will be great to put faces to the names. The one thing you get from us at MP is a great contest. Hard but fair, and a team humble in victory, gracious in defeat. Hopefully not this week. Good luck lads. :D

I have often thought the everyday lives of Mitchell Park Footballers was worthy of a reality TV show. Definitely better than Lara Bingle's effort anyway.

Might just take a camera to the upcoming 200 club.
