Sadly the fact that West and Centrals are being touted as Premiership contenders just illustrates how the standard of the SANFL is gradually diminishing.

Based on performances this year, I dont think either of these two would have been a serious threat 10 years ago.

As a Dog's supporter - I'm worried that our strongest efforts this year have all occurred at home. Alberton & Glenelg were OK but with all due respects, they aren't two of the strongest teams going around at the minute.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

And NT Thunder are the NEAFL premiers so if they had been allowed into the SANFL they would be premiers of that league now.
We used to be good :-(

I reckon Westies are worthy of a dip at this year's flag, especially if they can perfect their offensive game.
ATM I'd rank the Dogs favorite, Norwood second, then West.
After that they pretty much all look the same except Glenelg will play the minor round out better than the others. As for the premiership, I'd rank Port as having more chance than the Bays of winning it.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Get out to Elizabeth and help your double blues beat centrals this week and that should change your tune.

I read an interesting article on Westies today...

Here is an extract from it...

Steve Barrett, from Inside Football, wrote:ATTACKING FLAIR FILLS BLOODS HEARTS WITH NEW HOPE

West Adelaide went some way towards shaking off its dour, defensive image in Saturday's 68-point demolition job of Sturt at City Mazda Stadium.

The Bloods put their foot down offensively, splitting the big sticks 19 times in an uncharacteristic four-quarter display of attacking flair.

Putting West's 19.9 (123) tally into perspective, it was the Bloods' third highest score of Collin's five-year, 93-match tenure at the helm - which has reaped a scoring average of 68.9 points per outing - and a far cry from the dreary outfit that had scraped together a total 20 goals across its pervious 12 quarters of football.

No one in SANFL circles doubts West's defensive capabilities, but if Collins's charges can consistently produce the goods in attack, they could develop into a force to be reckoned with.

The good news is that We don't play finals at Unley, Norwood OR Richmond.

Mate, it takes me one hour just to get to the airport. Add in customs, travel time and the inevitable wait in Singapore, it'll take me a day and a half to get there!
