You may have already seen clean sweep of all grades at Lobethal, the Lions all very sad, Tigers kick 10 goals in the last quarter.

Uraidla far too good for young Devils team ... but did not help the fact that the Uraidla Junior Colts coach umpired the A-grade game! ... a few bewildering decisions even when Demons led by 10 goals ... can imagine the situation if it was a tight game and a few 'home town' decisions were plucked out. Didn't realise the club umpire system was in still in vogue in HFL? Not a smart decision by the umpiring appointment board but I guess we are supposed to respect the men in yellow ...

I have seen Rob Wylde umpire handorf year after year so this wouldn't be the first time this has happened.

The standard of umpiring in the hills league is nothing short of appalling and i really believe there needs to be an overhall. I understand you cant have the same blokes every week but should you not be giving the best umpires the best games? Some of the young lads should not be doing central A grade as they cannot control the game and are clearly intimidated by the bigger lads. Also i cant understand how people can coach and umpire at the same club, or be a life member and umpire the same club, umpires should be mutual. I totally understand umpiers dont grow on trees but I think the HFL needs to re think the management side of umpiring

We have played Hahndorf at Ironbank and Wylde is umpiring and he is atrocious, we have lost games as a result.

What year was that? He has not umpired Hahndorf for years, if ever.

Lobey's clean sweep surprised me, making it a 2-horse race between Lofty & raiders to stay off the bottom.
Can anyone stop Mt Barker? Onkas genuinely seemed to have fallen away, Hahndorf I'm not sure if they can match it with the big 2 at full strength...so that leaves uris, & from all reports they were well-drilled & their standard polished outfit but will they have the legs in September?

saw the last 3/4s of the uri vs lofty game on saturday. lofty were very poor and watching them made it difficult to believe that they could beat blackwood and lobey. did lofty have players missing on saturday? they were completely overwhelmed.

agree that lofty or brigdy are destined for the spoon, but we've known this since round 1. one of these two clubs may have to drop to country division to rebuild.

Especially for those families with kids in different age groups. Have to travel up there two Sundays in a row.
Doesn't seem like an educated decision to me
Can't imagine to many teams being entered from Blackwood, Ironbank, Lofty, Bridgy

As for Mt Barker, if allowed to get on a roll they are very hard to stop. We had their measure in the 1st qtr, 9 scoring shots to 1 but couldn't put it on the board, then in 15 mins they can quickly turn that around. Pretty good standard game, with both teams having patches where they controlled the game

There were actually two incidents during the game. The Younger Ewers from Blackwood took out Klun well behind the play in the first half, and then there was a bit of old school eye for eye, when someone from Onkas returned the favour in the second half.

Unsure though of what incident the footage is of.

Also what is everyone's opinion on the clock on the scoreboard at Blackwood. Made for an interested end to B Grade game when the players knew exactly how much time was left in the game. An Onkas player conveniently went down with cramp with 20secs left in the last quarter right in the spot where the umpire wanted to throw the ballup 30m from Blackwoods goal. In the end the umpire didnt get a chance to throw it up and Onkas won by 1pt.

Disagree, Gervais. Lofty are trying to rebuild now, hence so many youngsters. Don't need to drop a divvy to do that.
As for the Blackwood clock thing, this is CLASSIC! The ol' fake cramp?! Won't be the last time it'll happen I'd imagine. Just running down a clock. Seems to take some of the shine off it all I reckon.

Not sure what game Who's was watching but the Klun/Ewers clash was in play, in front of an umpire and no free was awarded.
Tanner had a word to him and that was it.

The second incident was much later - way behind play after Ewers had been sent to run with said player - who clealry wasn't keen on not being able to play wide and loose and get easy kicks - so he king hit him 50 metres off the ball - clever, he waited for a marking contest a long way away and both umpires watching the play!!

This would be no different to many incidents that happen each season. If the umpires didn't see it then the club needs to have a report in by 9am Monday and it will go to the tribunual. The tribunual is independent and a professional outfit from what I have seen. If the report didn't go in then your club needs to revisit its own processes to make players accountable. If it did, it should receive a fair hearing.
