Bays now safe, it's between South, Sturt, Port & The Eagles now. All depends on how many AFL players these sides get back each weekend. I don't think the Eagles will win it, history says you don't go from top to bottom in 1 year. Sturt play well when their AFL players return, it won't be them. So it's either Port or South.

I still think Sturt are favourite... Port second favourite... Eagles and South will edge clear over the coming weeks...

Agree, if Sturt put out a side like they did today they will win more than they lose. Have said South for awhile but I reckon Port are edging closer

Pfft we were safe from the Spoon before the State game.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

That's the thing though, we're relying on players who aren't our players to keep us off the bottom... I can't see us winning 3 games in a row and skipping clear of bottom, so I'm not sure we'll have the ticker to avoid the spoon.

More reason to get rid of the current system of dropping players to The SANFL.

Port are outright favourites . Sturt are more of a chance to take 5th from north than win the spoon IMHO!!

Not sure who it'll be, but looking at the remaining rounds I figure that 6 wins should be enough to avoid it.
I reckon the bottom 5 are all contenders, if over the remaining rounds they all fail to beat any of the top 4 and they have as even a spread of wins amongst themselves as possible then the spooner will be Port with 5 wins. The Eagles play more games against their fellow spoon contenders than the others. This may see them safe.
All purely arsemath but I reckon any wins stolen from the top 4 at this late stage goes about 50 percent of the way to avoiding the spoon.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

dare I open this can of worms again....this is another reason why we should revert to the final 4?

What? You can't use arsemath as a basis for scrapping the final five! It was created for good but you've gone and used it for evil!

Also because the gap between top & 5th is 6 games plus nearly 10%. 5th doesn't deserve to be in the finals most of the time.

If Port didn't lose to Panthers everytime. They wouldn't be spoon favourites.
