coffee machines - the good, bad and the ugly

I am interested in hearing what experiences people have had with domestic espresso/capuccino machines.
The Sky pilot household is a defacto coffee lounge so we are making 4 or 5 cappucino's every day and double or more on weekends. So far we have worn out two Breville machines in three and a half years. At $385 each no less. The first one was replaced under warranty at 20 months and now the second one has carked it and we have been told no more replacements will be forthcoming.
So, hours of research and reading reviews online in past weeks have resulted in all arrows pointing to a brand called Rancilio.
The Silvia V3 at $720 delivered is the bargain of the century. All others I checked - some as much as $2500 - all seem to go for two or three years then die a horrible death if you believe the reviews. A friend of mine paid $5000 from DJ's for a DeLonghi which he says is awesome but I can't justify that. If the Rancilio doesn't arrive here by the weekend we could well see a mutiny in the making.

I've got a DeLonghi here at home and one I've shipped up to our shack.

I found out that the one we've got here retails for 2499 and I picked it up off ebay, fully refurbished by Kitchen Gourmet for about 700 bucks. The reason for picking up a second hand one? I'm currently the only one in the house who drinks coffee. I would have 2 on a Saturday and maybe 3-5 on Sunday depending on the amount of visitors we have.

It's warrantied for 6 months post purchase.

We have one at work and that's made about 1000 cups of coffee made and is still going strong. It's the model up from mine, fully automated, hence I was confident mine would be fine.

Have got the Saeco Syntia and it's a dream. The only negative that I can think of is that the water reserve only really holds enough for two long blacks.

I can report the Rancilio Sylvia is an awesome machine. Have just complemented it with a Rancilio doser burr grinder so my kitchen resembles a Lygon street cafe. Another tip for coffee snobs is to get the Barista milk. It's a long life product and boy, does it froth and cream up well?

A mate of mine has a Saeco and it seems to work well.
I won a Jura in a competition but found its method of adjusting coffee strength cumbersome.
After several weeks I traded it for a new bike at one of the bike shops in Unley, and went back to my old manual La San Marco.
(I'm very happy with my Centurion Crossline 400 that replaced it.)

how's that equate squids? Are you meaning that you ruin coffee by putting suger in it?
