Round 15 - Eagles v South @ Unleash Solar Oval (Sat 7/7)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Jul 02, 2012 1:52 pm

This will be a fascinating contest and could almost be dubbed a mini elimination final. Bloth sides go into this big clash coming off very poor losses and will be keen to get back in the winners circle. The Eagles were woeful against the Doggies and the Panthers were pretty bad after half time against the Bays. Ron Fuller will be chasing his first win against his old club at Woodville Oval.

Who wins is any ones guess. I doubt supporters from either side would be confident.

I hope Poole and Salter are promoted this week. Poole was named best in the reserves yet again on the weekend. He deserves a promotion to the league side over any one of a number of players. Most likely Lane. Salter should be positioned at Full Forward and they can take their pick of whoever the other 5 might be there to join him. They should stick with Fitzgerald. Only a few would have demanded their selection for this week's team from last week's performance. Will be interesting to see if Godden swings the axe to a couple of favourites.

EDIT: Just looking at Poole's stats on Sporting Pulse and he has been named in the best players in the Reserves in 18 of his past 21 games. Time to get him in there along side Powell, Cica etc. while they are still around.

I thought Lewis and Raymond were very average on the weekend... Not alone of course.

After being one of the most consistent over the last two years, Lewis has had a very poor year from what I've seen. Couple of good games a few weeks ago, but now sounds like dropped off again.
Did Greiger play up forward again last weekend? Thought it was a good move for a couple of weeks as he was struggling a bit and a change helped to take some pressure off, but now we have 3 other tallish forwards, has to go back to defence.

I cant remember the last time we won at Woodville.

After watching South v's Bays last weekend I dont see it changing unfortunately....plus this game is being televised so I know our performances with televised games is poor too. (stage fright??)

Alot of worrying signs at South last weekend especially a few players body langauge left a lot to be desired!!!

If we dont win this one....close the door for season 2012. :(
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

At risk of sounding like a smart arse..it was a sunny Sunday arvo in 2005. Michael Davis in particular was terrific. For whatever reason I remember the game well. (perhaps b/c we haven't won there since  ) South were playing great footy at that point of year before a massive losing streak kicked in...

Why would you televise two teams playing crap football.

Surely Nwd and Centrals should be the game to televise, even if it is to the detriment of a big crowd turning up. If the SANFL want to showcase its product as the best, then change the telecast straight away.

If I was in hospital and Eagles V South was my option, I would get sicker right away.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

Because there are only 3 games this weekend and Norwood v Centrals is on Sunday.
ABC can only cover Saturday games so it was either Eagles v South or Sturt v West. I wouldnt wish for anyone to have to sit through West on TV 3 weeks in a row
