Agree about Travy Bulls, he is one to build a team around and I can see him playing for the national side one day. Has been working really hard and has some nice bruises from Mitch to prove it.
Good to see him get a decent bat sponsorship from GM and believe he was the first player in Australia to receive the new model so obviously they see something in the kid

Yeah that damn bouncy Adelaide Oval deck will sort Hughes out!!!

We have picked up a guy who plays very square of the wicket at a ground with the shortest square boundaries in the country.

We dont play every game at Adelaide Oval firstly.Secondly, i reckon my mum could bounce him out on an Indian dusty flat track.

Having said that, good on the SACA for chasing and catching a decent player, (just so long as the curators prepare low slow decks) ;)

Yeah but you play half your games there so you base a squad on what should suit your home ground. Much like football your basic tactics should suit you to win the majority of your games at home.

Surely they don't give klinger a heap. Ferg has alot more years left in him, and if klinger retires. Say in 2 years(32 in july), SA miss out big time. Chuck goes on about building this side, yet stuff like this goes on.

Who cares if Ferguson leaves SA, the bloke is a VERY AVERAGE 4 day batsmen.

His now 27 years of age and has averaged 32.00 last season and has a career first class average of 35.00. I dont care if he has the worlds most perfect technique and is a quality 50 over batsmen he struggles at first class level.

Geez blokes like Steven Cazzulino, Joe Burns, Liam Davis, Alex Doolan, Peter Nevill, Wes Robinson have better averages than him.

People carry on like his the reincarnation of Don Bradman.

Smart move by Hughes. Small ground, square of the wicket..he can paper over the cracks of that godawful technique and make a few bucks doing it. As an added bonus this dud won't ever be wearing the Baggy Green or Blue again. A great day for cricket.

Why would Klinger retire at 32? That's fairly young.

South Australian Cricket general discussion

Postby the joker » Thu Jun 28, 2012 11:01 pm

Ferg is the face of cricket in SA. If he can get out of SA and go to WA and just concentrate on scoring runs it will probably be great for his career and chances for Aussie selection. Bad for Sa cricket. But I would love to see him in the baggy green
He will still be in the strikers squad.
Can't lose Christian to Queensland now though

Good sources tell me Ferg is gone, heading west. When you add it all up, we have $1 million to play with. Hughes and Botha would command possibly a third (or more) of that. Klinger, Christian certainly a fair slice as well. Ferg coming off a CA contract would have to be top end, around $150 - I think that is part of the EB (not positive). So we have 5 players that would wipe off around $800k, doesn't leave much for the others, so maybe we could not fit Ferg into cap, given that there are around 10-15 others that must receive at least basic contracts $40k?). Can't believe the posters that have flicked Head out of the team, he recently took 50+ off Mitch Johnson, Cummins and Hastings up in Qld. The kid is an absolute gun and must be played, bat at 6, remember we threw him up to 3 at the end of the season for experience. Head will, if he continues his current development play for Aus, ignore his fielding, that will improve.

Pretty sure we will see some ink dry on a ferguson contract shortly and it will be red and black ink not gold and black from a very very reliable source

Let's hope we don't hear any comments about producing and playing " local talent" from you then. How quickly we forget the Ryan Harris saga.

In todays paper it quotes Berry as saying Ferg will sign a long term deal and Christian will also sign.

Also says that Doropolous, Harris, Borgas, Crosthwaite and O'Brien will not be offered new contracts with the Redbacks
July 11th 2012....
