3 leading goal kickers were out for A grade game v Scotch and Westy has been helping Hally as assistant coach.
Slid into the goal square and kicked 3 in 10mins in the 2nd quarter... not bad for 46.
Lead the Swans goal kicking in 1990!! and has been a legend at Keith FC now Jets... top bloke.
Not sure if it was a once off or will be a regular as finals approach???

wouldnt think he would play finals. top team, dont really want to be changing a winning formalue by putting a 46 year in. as well as someone who has played all year losing their spot. played afl in 1990 - i was 1 yr old at that stage

Yeah you're probably right. Was awesome to watch tho!
Not to many 46 year olds are in that good nick!

Good to see an OLD bloke kicking goals, just not sure of the reason why you would play a 46 year old ahead of someone like Bellifimini or Batty who are both playing well and kicking goals in the B grade.

Great decision imo. You seen many Jets games?

Was great that Westy played, hes still a gun and easily up to the standard.

They are different types of players to Westy; we had 3 tall forwards out.

Be a good game GG v Salisbury West and will go a long way to shaping the final 5.

Have to say that I am not looking forward to visiting Jet park this Saturday :( ...they must be smok'n ATM

I am looking forward to seeing the antics of their B grade ump (if its the same bloke) last year he tried to send our B grade coach from the coach's box to the car park ..... wasn't till the SAAFL appointed umpire for the A grade match who was watching had a word with him that he relented....... what a k... ahhh interesting individual.

I look forward to the clash of intellects between our club prez and him if he tries his antics on again

I know some umpires just aren't good, that's just a fact of lower level footy. At least they give it a crack. But Unley's B grade ump is by far the dodgiest (without using the C word) going about....

The Unley Football Club would like to celebrate the 10th year of our junior program by having our 'Juniors Day' this Saturday at Jet Park.

There will be activities on at half time in the 'A' grade and a free snag and soft drink for all juniors, as well as discounted bar prices for junior parents.

Our junior program is the largest in the Sturt area and equal largest in the MSJFL.

Approximately 40% of our current senior list are past juniors and there should be 10 past juniors in the A grade this week.

You would have hoped that he tried to play higher. Good player at average levels.
You are right as he will tear up D4, but wants to be the big fish in the small pond unfortunately.

Lot of good things going on in a number of clubs in this div. But.......... I played about 6 games in this div after falling on the outer of a SANFL club when I first moved to Adelaide and:
1. For the standard of the div you are hardly going to have AFL standard umpires at each game. I understand they can be frustrating because of their poor standard, but if they were any better they would be higher up. There is a lot of whinging about umpires on this forum.
2. Cheap shots kill mid divisions like this. I was not a good player in this div, but after spending the second half of my first year in Adelaide in div 4, I have gone back to playing country footy since, because you dont get belted behind play cause you know how to win the footy. I know a lot of good taggers (Liam Picken) and he doesnt belt his opponents.
The SAAFL are trying their hardest to improve the culture of the game. You take the thugs that go out on a Saturday just to hurt people out of the game and the standard of umpiring will improve.
P.S. Mick Ashby will be a decent, not gun footballer at this level. There is a huge difference between Hills Country and Hills Central!!
