He was up against the charge of 'misconduct - kneeing'

SANFL Twitter feed wrote:Brady Dawe has been found Not Guilty by the SANFL Tribunal

He is a lucky boy. I guess there was some doubt as to whether it was deliberate or accidental. At first glance it didn't look too good but if it was accidental he deserves to get off. I don't like players getting games for accidentally causing injury.

I'd be surprised if Dawe had ever been reported before in his life.

Out of interest, I just looked up the records of reports from fixtures between North and Norwood since 2010. In 7 games, there has only been one game where no one has been reported.

2010
Rd 8 – John Platten (North) reported for rough conduct. Guilty – 1 match.
Rd 19 – Andrew McIntyre (North) reported for striking. Not Guilty.

2011
Rd 7 – Nil
Rd 15 – Clint Alleway (North) reported for striking. Guilty – 1 match. Taylor Walker reported for rough conduct. Guilty – 1 match. Josh Francou (North coach) reported for breaching regulation 15.1.3. Guilty – reprimand.
Rd 20 – Stuart Bown (Norwood) reported for striking. Guilty – 1 match.

2012
Rd 6 - Clint Alleway reported for striking. Guilty – 3 matches.
Rd 11 – James Bennett (North) reported for striking. Guilty - reprimand. Brett Backwell (North) reported for striking. Guilty - 2 matches. Brady Dawe (Norwood) reported for misconduct (kneeing). Guilty - reprimand. Mat Suckling (Norwood) reported for umpire abuse. Guilty - reprimand.

Bit of feeling between the 2 clubs that both start with Nor, isn't there?

Job for you BP... ;) Look up the injury record between Norwood and Central in a similar timeframe. I bet it's a longer list than the one above!

Bennett was reported during the game.

Backwell was cited under review - TSG sent me a text a during the game and said Backwell would go and when I saw the replay and with his past record there was no chance of anything but a 2 game suspension.

Re the Dawe incident - it appeared to be intentional in terms of the action. Part of the problem is Dawe is a thin gangly type and was clearly a little worried about making body to body contact with Gallman so he stuck his knee up for protection. Problem is with his height a raised knee was always going to make contact where it did. Still Bassett and Norwood had the last laugh as it appears Gallman ranks with Alleway as the most hated North player.

There has been for over 100 years. I have found articles from 1908 about the problems between the two clubs.

As a child in the early 1960s I can remember the North Norwood game being second in rivalry and tradition only to Port and Norwood, with West and Port the third great rivalry. Mike Coward refers to it in one of his wonderful books on Norwood, especially when writing about Wally Miller and his illness

Even though they merged during the war years and won two flags the problems certainly remained especially when the competition resumed. Player distribution between the two clubs seemed to be a major issue, but my knowledge is scant about it. I know that Ken Farmer, in particular, had a dislike of Norwood, bordering on hatred, but as far as I can ascertain it arose more after he finished playing.

Yeah right, I missed all of that

Saw Backwell and a couple of our boys get a bit niggly in front of us in the 1st quarter, but didn't see anything report worthy.

There was some push and shove as they were jostling at a throw in on the Grandstand side centre wing and just as the players settled Backwell hit Webber with a sucker punch to the guts! You could tell Webber wasn't expecting it as he had to go off to regain his breath etc. It wasn't very subtle and to be honest completely unnecessary so he deserved his two games. You can tag and niggle without belting blokes like that.

Seems nobody can decide whether J. Gowans was reported for front on contact or umpire contact. One outlet says one, the next says the other. Did anyone see the incident? I wasn't at the game but a couple of people who were didn't see what he did, just the book coming out.

Gowans made high contact with a Glenelg player who had his head over the ball. Whilst it is tempting to slag him off and call him a thug, there was nothing in it. Glenelg player dazed for a short time, free kick is all it was worth. I am sure the tribunal outcome will be reflective of my comments.

The James Gowans' report was thrown out this morning, assuming once the IRP viewed the tape and saw exactly that.

Jason Sutherland has accepted a one match ban for rough contact.

It appears as though Mitchell Grigg's report has been thrown out. There is no mention of it on the SANFL site
