I'd certainly like to have less than ten-fifteen changes per week... certainly the next few games will tell us a tale or two.

SMOSH had a fairly good mix, we got spanked when we played them, if a certain horse wasnt running we may have got a little closer but they were just better skilled.

Wasnt a massive fan of thier umpire but no one ever likes oppostition umps. I used to hate your current div 8 umpire, umpired div 1 res for you years back when I was at kilburn and he was terrible! Didnt think he was really all that bad when we played you guys a few weeks back.

Getting a regular side on the park with stability is massive in this comp IMO, you will always have a few players in and out to B grade but if you get a good core group that will be there all year it helps. We have this just need to get us all together and play consecutive games to build up a run.

Always been a tough trip for us, plus an ongoing rivalry, so we're glad to come home with 2 good wins
Our D8 side doesn't have the same old man strength as previous years so are doing well

The D8/D8R comp is starting to show those clubs with depth

We actually had opportunity to win this one, went into half time a couple of goals up and gave this away in the third.

Having now played all top four sides, personally I still think that Broadview and SMOSH are the teams to beat. UNI were quick and fit, PAC were also quick and fit but lacked a bit of body when it came to contested ball, we could not get the ball past half forward, missed our FF and CHF on the day, would have helped but not saying it would have got us over the line.

Deffinately still a bit of rivalry there, not too many of us played off in that GF a few years back but the ones that did, we still hate ya!! ;)

I'm still around from the GF side in 09, and really enjoy playing you boys.

You pushed us again on the weekend, and I thought we were in trouble at the half time break, but a big third qtr did it for us.
Must say your new change rooms are a darn site better than the atco huts last time we were up your way.
You boys are certainly not the worst side running around in the c grade this year. look forward to the return leg.

Yeah we have come a long way in the last few years, on this year we just need to get that second win and hopefully can get a run on. Got Mitcham this week and we are not taking anyone lightly especially out there, bit of rain will make it a tough slog. I am sure they want to get their first win on the board and would see us as an opportunity too!

I heard a bit about this last night at the club, they said everthing was ok, he's just really sore. He's been really unlucky, only just come back from injury. I believe he was in hospital last night.

Cheers, I heard he had returned from a broken back and with the incident involving his back everybody was hoping that this hadn't been revisited. The incident however leads to a debate about duty of care to a player versus results of a game - given that the incident involved potential spinal injuries.

No worries finn, correct Corey's seriously injured his back before, decided to jump of a big wall while being as pissed as a fart. My old lady is close friends with his old lady and she told her he's reinjured the same part of his back he did last time but luckily it's not as bad as it could have been.

We are really pleased that he is OK.

I would also like to add that I was very impressed how North Haven handled the situation.

It was a fair game played in the right spirit.

We look forward to having a beer with you guys at the return leg.

Good Luck

Gepps Cross D grade have forfeited tomorrow's game against the Burras. About this time last year they struggled for numbers and ended up folding their D grade before year's out.......could be the same outcome this year!

This guy is truly an inspiration to all young players out there wanting to play 200 games at the one club. Never asked for a penny, never wants any spotlight on himself, never trains... That sort of attitude will see young blokes go a long way..... ;)

In all seriousness, well done Sad Cat.
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

You will still get them in the C grade! We beat them fairly easily yesterday. Their ruckman was great, he battled hard all day and moved well for a big guy. Really only one incident in the game and our guy gave as good as he got, they both were sent off. They showed up at our home ground without their away tops, we clash a fair bit there, and they also showed up without an umpire. We ended up having to supply two and went without a runner for the day. Pretty ordinary for a Div 1 club to not support the guys in the C grade IMO. A few comments from the coach and a few players to our runner who volunteered to help out were a bit ordinary also, he had never umpired before nor has any intention to do so again and for the coach to call him a cheat is a bit rich IMO, if they dont like it, supply one. I thought he did a pretty good job considering.

I saw a couple of new names in the PAOC team - Waltham and Trim
A guy from work saw the match so I asked him how Johnboy went - the reply:
And he hasn't got outside a walk since last season

We are hoping to reverse the trend too. Will need snorkel and flippers at Park 9 this weekend. Would hate to see Mitcham oval after this rain, Harpers wouldnt be great either.

Yeah oval doesn't hold up well after the rain, we had a fair bit but thought that apart from the middle the rest of the ground wasn't all that bad, I didn't play so I can only go by how it looked.

Best win for us yesterday all year, we needed to get that win over a top side and to beat Broadies was definitively a bonus. We were behind all day only to hit the lead with about three minutes to go showed real character.

Disappointing loss by the tigers on the weekend but with so many people missing was a good effort. It's hard to cover the loss of your 1st and 2nd ruck and all 3 starting midfielders. Expect a more aggressive fired up tiger outfit from now until seasons end

Understand they had players out, but I know that they were expecting an easy game from us based on the first round result and we have improved a lot since that game. I didnt play this week but from what I saw and heard Broadies are very confident that they have the flag in the bag this year, WILL beat SMOSH next game is what I was told. Not saying they are not a good side, the results have spoken for themselves but as I noted a few posts back, the first half of the season all sides beat the sides below them and lost to the ones above. As we have been told for many years when we were cocky and though we had it in the bag, flags are not won until August.

We won on the weekend and to be honest couldnt care less who they had in or out. A win is a win for us, we have beaten a side placed above us which SHOULD get us into the finals now and that is all that matters. You have to be able to cover the loss of good players each week, we do when they go up to the B grade, the B grade will never take our worst player up. Thier ruckman who I know is normally a bench player in the D grade was fantastic, battled all day and I would say won his position. I have a few mates out there so I know who they had out and the quality of them also, but before the game I was still told they would smash us, so they really cant now say it was them out that cost them the loss, maybe took us easier than they should have.

I personally love beating Broadview, having come from Kilburn and now at GG the rivelry at Kilburn was great, I even shared a house with two guys from there when we played against each other, made saturday nights fun after a game! Lucky for me we actually won more in those two years than lost.
