Nice to see Yank has re-appointed Ryan Lewis for another 3 years. Done some good work with the Tigers and seems a great bloke.

B grade footy is b grade for a reason but goolwa knockin off the dees at Willunga would have to be one of the stories of the round. 1st time since the late 90's????

As far as upsets go, that's about as big as they get.. Interesting to see that Goolwa were in front in the A Grade at half time too!

It was a very good effort by our lads, they played a good brand of footy. I declared us as $1.40 favourites when I saw our team. I would suggest that both teams had a lot out. Not sure who from Willunga was missing but one player I know of had a call up at 12noon to pull the boots on. Good to get the monkey off the back but it's June so long way to go

Willunga real good in the second half in the A's. We were up by 2 goals at 1/2 time but a 8 goal to 0 third term finished us off. Portlock and Haskett out as well but I guess we had the Griffen lads out too. Creeks v Willunga will be interesting this week

Goolwas B grade were impressive, big side, strong over the footy and played to their strengths. We were outsized, outworked and it was tough to watch but not panic stations for the 2s.

The A grade game was an interesting one, we were on top for over 3 quarters around the ground but goolwa in the first half were good when they got the ball and big Smith was causing us some headaches, plucking everything! After half time our ball use was much more direct and for once we went long and put the goolwa defence under pressure. I think we kicked about 11 goals in a row to put the game away and played our most impressive 40-45 minutes without some really important players. Great sign for the future.

Whos competing for the Mccracken Cup after the first round?

It was the first 3 rounds and Willunga were 3-0 then there were 5 clubs who were 2-1. Does it go on percentage? If so Willunga v Yankalilla

I'm not sure that's right.. I think it was rounds 1, 3 & 5 which would make it Willunga vs McLaren when they meet in the second half of the year.

The printed programme says rounds 1, 3 and 9 but the sportingpulse programme says 1, 3, 5 and 9????

I assume the printed programme would be correct?? if so:

Round 1 winners: Yank, McLaren, GPE, VH, Will
Round 3 winners: EB, McLaren, MtC, LC, Will
Round 9 Winners: Yank, Strath, LC, VH, Will

Gives Will v LC (on percentage over Yank, VH and McLaren) This weekend!

Looking at either scenario for Mccracken Cup (Round 1,3,5 and 9 or Rd 1,3 and 9) it will be between Willunga and Langhorne Creek.

So this Saturdays game is infact for the Mccracken Cup no matter what way you look at it. Adds a little bit more riding on the game apart from the Creek still striving to gain that double chance and Willunga to keep themselves in the hunt for a chance to gain top spot.

Yes finally strath got there first win for the year huge relief for all at the club. Was feeling pretty confident thursday night with a few handy players back from injury, notably last years captain ben wilson back from america helping add some much needed height and experience to the team. Mclaren had a few out which helped also. But strath kicked the first two goals of the game probably for the first time all year, which gave them confidence to get there running game going & throwing the ball around.
Congrats to goolwa b grade on there win over willunga, i think that would be willunga's 1st loss at home in the ressies since 2008 vs strath? Unbelievable record they have had over the years lets hope this means a few contenders in the ressies this year maybe?

What's the ruling on abandoned matches in the GSFL? I doubt there will be footy at the creek this week.

Is the oval underwater again? Wouldnt surprise me if it is considering the amount of rain we've had in the past 24 hours.

Wouldn't they play at Willunga if the Langhornes Oval was flooded ?

Willunga would be praying for floods given their record at Langhorne Creek.

Could they push the game to the week off in two weeks?

Thats not wet. Games should go on unless the whole oval is a bit damp

Thats what the Creek oval does look like when the Bremer floods the town.
Oval goes under on average about once every 10 years. Last time was Sept 2010.
