Better team won. We kicked poorly and generally played well below what we are capable of. Hectorville have set the bench mark from the sides we have seen. Very very beatable. We will give them what's owed come the return fixture

Remember someone saying something about Hectorville's cheap shots. Same shit, same bloke and he had a couple of mates.

Just constant little cheap shots after disposal. One player is on report for kneeing a bloke in the back of the head after the ball had gone. All class.

Terrible game of footy, but relieved to get the win!

Terrible game of footy.???.. Totally disagree and I reckon 90 percent of the blokes that actually played the match yesterday would say the same thing..Unley kept the door open for us with poor kicking at goal but it was a real heated and high intensity game even though we didn't get the result we wanted its always enjoyable to play in games like that. As for the constant complaining about cheap shots and scragging toughen up its football it happens both ways. Deliberate acts of violence have no place in football but there will always be a time where things boil over just suck it up and when the siren sounds you shake hands and share a beer and a laugh

Hard to share a laugh if u end up in hospital champ...

Yeah, 0.8 for James O, but he had plenty of friends!

Salisbury West are a very young side! Play the most distinctive style of all the teams in D4, probably the only side with a clear game plan, they chip and run but with hardly anyone over 6 foot they don't have much choice. The umps did a good job overall.

Is there still a Club Championship? Obviously I only ask because we are travelling alright, there is no ladder on sporting pulse.

Agreed. Having seen everyone now, I think SW are the best side in the comp. Easily the most disciplined side; very well organised and structured. Will be hard to beat come finals time.

That is three times this has been reported on here. Also got a taste of their own medicine shortly after the GG incident and one of them resorted to kicking an opponent

Firstly I'd just like to state the player in question is a ball player (e.g. doesn't go out there to hurt people) , and a very good one at that. For this reason he seems to cop a lot of attention from the opposition. From what I have seen these so called 'cheap shots' are only in retaliation to similar acts from opposition. This is a part of footy and if you can't handle a little physical contact on the field you might need to go back to playing netball. Some of you blokes are a little too precious and Jetters your blokes are not angels either, example being Whittleston. That oaf threw at least 4-5 elbows/punches throughout the day. So get off your high horse.

And Heater did you fail to mention this guy who supposedly 'kicked' someone was blatantly punched in the groin in the prior contest??

What I'm getting at is that these types of incidents happen week in week out (nearly every club in the SAAFL) and I think it is unfair to pinpoint one bloke/club when it happens everywhere.

I don't think the entire Heccies team has been labelled this way... I think the point people are making is that it seems to be the same culprit each time. Comments have come from many different teams within the division so surely all of these teams haven't got together and conjured these opinions up ?? C'mon.... And if he needs to retaliate all the time to the constant niggle he apparentely receives then maybe he needs to get thicker skin...

Well according to my numbers 50% of players were wearing Jets guernseys and they would agree it was a stinker.

When the siren sounds if you have had a tough (fair) hitout of course you shake hands and enjoy it, but just because your on a sporting field is no reason to be a knob head, who wants to have a beer with people like that??

What a load of shit.

Spoke to a mate who plays for Norwood last night about the Hectorville game and mentioned the cheap shots taken. He laughed and said 'Jake Mazzone!?' As he is an ex-Norwood player. And guess who number 24 is.... The bloke takes cheap shots and has clearly got a reputation. What a legend!

So kicking them is an acceptable reaction then? By all means push and shove them back but to strike them with your foot does not belong on a football field.

Perhaps in that instance it is best to tone it down a little if you can't handle the heat

As most of the time the umpires get bagged on here I would just like to say that the B grade umpire from Pultney on Saturday was easily the best we have had all season, even paid us a free kick in our forward line from the other end of the ground (not sure why our umpire didnt pay it  ) also the game was played in great spirits without incident and look forward to the return match to finish off the home and away season.

So your saying m. Whittleston is a knob head because he threw punches on the weekend??? He happens to be a mate and I know what sort of bloke he is his actions of almost taking my head of with one of those haymakers doesn't make me think any less of him in fact I was the first one upstairs to have a laugh about it with him...the most serious injury from our game on the weekend came from a clash between two of our own players and ended in a fractured cheek these things happen if that worries you too much maybe start looking for another sport

I thought this was a pretty simple point. You blokes take cheap shots.

If someone eventually reacts thats pretty normal I'd reckon.

I was at the Unley vs Hectorville game on Saturday and it was disappointing that the negative comments about SOME of the Hectorville players were true. Sometimes you can get carried away in a game of footy after a bit of push and shove or a hard tackle, but there's a difference between a bit of niggle behind play and blatantly striking an opponent. Who wants to play football in a competition where you are physically assaulted for being one of the better players/teams? It's pathetic.
It would be sweet justice and karma if someone much bigger than these guys, like Whittles, decided to belt a few of these thugs before they have the chance to do likewise. However, that's not how most clubs with any intentions of being successful go about their footy and therefore that kind of BS isn't accepted within the club.
It's time people started naming names and these drop kicks get suspended for off the ball incidents more regularly.

End rant.
