Rnd 12 - Sturt v South @ Commander Centre Oval (Sat 16/6)

Postby Big Phil » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:37 pm

The Double Blues had a great win over the Dogs before their bye last week while the Panthers again disappointed with a poor showing against the Magpies last week. Based on current form, the home side will probably go in as favourites but this one could be a close contest that may go either way.

Did not like what i saw from the boys of the south against Port on Saturday, seen that type performance too often over too many years which leaves me with zero confidence for this week and indeed the rest of the year. :( I hate football.

Sturt by 6 goals.

After last weeks shameful performance and the other 3 losses before that.....Im slowly losing the faith.

Once again South "bait" their long suffering fans with hope but once again have "failed" to deliver in 2012. :(

Martin looks like he'll be playing for Adelaide but could still line up for Sturt due to the Friday night game. Sturt are terrible after a bye especially with a win before the bye but I think if we have a solid team effort over four quarters we should get the win, South are up and down like us so it's hard to pick.

Wouldn't have played for South since 06/07 I reckon. Interesting.

No excuses this week. Injury list no longer a factor. Season is pretty much shot if we lose this (if it isn't already).

This is a tough one to pick...

... instinct says Sturt should win by 3-4 goals, maybe a bit more, based on their performance against Central.

However, Sturt have played poorly after the byes.

South are also hard to pick. They've disappointed in many games this season, but shone in a few other matches. If South play to their peak, they are more than a match for Sturt if they do not play to their peak also...

It's really 50-50, attitude and application will win the day...

If Sturt win, they keep their hopes of stealing 5th place later in the year alive and distance themselves from the bottom...

... lose and they're back in the pack for bottom place.

I'll go out on limb... Sturt by 4 goals.

Similar thoughts. But we dint have Thomson or Martin from the dogs game, plus no sheedy again. Gum and Hansen back in. Will be there yelling like crazy for a blues win...by less than 39 points ;)

Control Liddle, Stribling, Ainger and Wundke. Reduce their impact and Sturt will win (3 goals).

I can't recall a team being so reliant on so few players. Good news for Panthers fans with the resigning of the two on-ballers.

Would prefer two extra premiership points and a 100+ loss in the foxtel cup than nothing and win the thing.

We exist to win the SANFL premiership!

I reckon a Sturt win today. Can't go past their form against Centrals and like Port did last week you only have to shut down a couple of players and we're at sea. Never know though. And we also have a habbit of being flogged by 100+ at Unley over the years which was almost looking that way shortly after half time last week. Big test. Five on the trot is hard to come back from.
