Round 11 - Glenelg v Eagles @ Gliderol Stadium (Mon 11/6)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Jun 04, 2012 12:13 pm

The Public Holiday Monday game will see the Tigers take on the struggling Reigning Premiers. Glenelg had a tough loss against North Adelaide yesterday while Woodville West Torrens' terrible season had another blow with the loss to West on Saturday. This clash will be an interesting one that may just be the last chance for the Eagles to hang on to any finals hopes.

It really is season on the line now. Eagles must win next two against Glenelg and North to keep finals chances alive.

I don't think Ellis-Yolmen deserved to miss out against West and should be an inclusion after being best in the Reserves. Lane another possibility? He has a knack of kicking goals - albeit with little possessions - but may be worth a shot.

Heinjus has unfortunately been fed to the wolves, much like Rae was earlier in the season. Neither are ruckman and to be asked to play this position at league level when they should be slotting in as the 3rd tall forward is too much. It is still hard to understand why Miles was ever moved on before last season, but I know I need to get over it!

I think Raymond is the only player with that bit of X-factor about him that could make a difference in the forward line. Treeby/Rimington/Inkster had it and we are missing that in this team. Lewis could play Raymond's role in the back half.

Could try Heinjus as a permanent forward if his confidence isn't too dented and Staple moved to the back line. Grieger to cover 2nd ruck because we need someone in there that is at least competitive.

They might, but given they both jsut had a rest over the State game weekend I doubt it. You'd think McCarthy would come straight but in for Boak but I hope Tommy gets the call up, he deserves it.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Agree Aerie, about trying Heinjus or Fitzgerald (not sure what his form has been likein the 2's) at FF. Heinjus only seems to come into the side as a second ruckman, even on his debuted a couple years ago. Got a good leap, stick him or Fitzgerald up there and tell them to just compete. Grocke CHF, Lane, Kane, Goldsworthy, Cicca roving in the pockets.

If the Bays drop this game then they don't deserve to play finals this year ...

Almost last chance for The Eagles as to hit back from 2-7 and do any damaged in September is fairly far fetched. Win and the season looks like including Finals. The midfield battle will tell the tale with the loser really out of excuses you'd think. Have the senior midfielders of the Eagles really lost it in 7-8 months? Maybe :o

My mail from last weeks game Ellis Yoeman , Joyce and Martyn were flogged Friday by the crows . Joyce got injured and the Eagles had to play Ellis Yoeman in the seconds .Not saying that affected the Eagles IMHO Eagles have need of a second ruck when Redden is in the afl .
Shocking game last week and I've been coping flak from a bays fan at work !!!
I hope the eagles can win or it will be an extra long week at work !!!
