I am not 100% certain and am happy to be corrected, but i think that applies over a short period, like 3 years. Given he has been at Glenelg for a number of years he gets to decide which club is best for him, as long as the club will pay for the transfer.

This one club crap is not a level playing field. Why does he get to choose which club he wants?

where's Rucci's outrage on this?

Salopek Released To Magpies

STEVEN Salopek has been released to the Magpies in the SANFL after Port Adelaide and Glenelg eventually reached an amicable agreement on a transfer fee today.

Salopek, who has played 121 games for the Power, was recruited as a first round selection in the 2002 AFL National Draft after which he was secured by Glenelg in the SANFL mini-draft.

Think any club that is lacking depth in the Reserves would welcome them.

On the bright side they culled their list early enough to save the embarrassment of one of the players asked to leave winning the Reserves B&F

According to SportingPluse no clearances pending for any of the players mentioned

Jay Shannon is an interesting one. Looked like he was going to go very high in the AFL draft a few years ago but somehow missed out.

Yes that's really disappointing. He's a little gun and one of the better players I've played against and watched play a fair few times. Though I'm sure Salisbury west (if he goes back there and stays there) won't mind though.

We are very happy. He's a fantastic player for us and to have him full time for the season is a massive bonus. I'm not so sure his leaving Port was entirely Port just cutting him, I think he was sick of it. We'll appreciate his availability this season but next season he'll go to the other league club that was trying to entice him for this year when he decided to stay loyal.

Looks like he is headed to the SAAFL then, he would consider returning to the club if they needed a tall defender.

Maybe Will might try again next season with a new coach at the helm?

Retiring for the second time..

Sandery moves on

Mitch Sandery has advised the South Adelaide Football Club that due to the increasing demands of his work he won’t be able to continue this season.

Mitch returned to the Panthers prior to Round 1 with the hope of balancing his work as a contract painter and football commitments. However, the increased workload, combined with the travel from his home at Fairview Park to Noarlunga, made it extremely difficult to meet the demands of being an SANFL footballer.

Mitch played 6 League games in 2012, bringing his South Adelaide total to 64 games and career total to 92. He was also the winner of the 2009 Knuckey Cup after joining the Panthers from Norwood in 2008.

The South Adelaide Football Club thanks Mitch for his contribution and wishes him all the best for the future.

South Adelaide also advises that Nick Liddle and Toby Stribling have extended their contracts with the Panthers to 2013.
