Round 11 - Central v West @ Playford Alive Oval (Sat 9/6)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:43 am

The Doggies are coming off a disappointing performance against the Double Blues while the Bloods are one of the form teams in the competition. Central will need to sort out their forward line structure because one of West's strenghts is it's defence with Adam Hartlett and Joel Tippett. Whilst West have not won at Elizabeth since 1999, they would consider themselves a big chance in this one.

Broadcast Details - 107.9 LifeFM from 1:30pm

Recent Encounters
- Central have won 4 of the past 6

Recent @ Elizabeth
- Central have won last 13
- West last win was Rd 16 (July 17) 1999

This is a massive game for both teams. Central has a game in hand on West so being 2 premiership points behind West is insignificant at the moment. Central don't often lose two in a row (unless they have played at Unley for one of those weeks!), let alone at Elizabeth. I think North and Port are sides that have had a real dip at Central at Elizabeth in recent years, and its time West had a win out there, and claimed a "statement win".

This really should be the ABC game this week, too.

COULD get back Jenner, Henderson, O'Sullivan, O'Hara, Nash. Time for the world to meet big Lawton too, methinks. Or Hynes.

Centrals won't score 10 goals let alone win by 10 i don't think. Our defence has been magnificent of late.

Either side by under a goal

Good call. West has the second best rebound rate in the competition, rebounding 77.6% of their opposition's 401 inside 50s (behind Norwood's 77.8%). To give that statistic context, the competition average for this season is 70.8% and last season was 69.3%. Last year's premiers WWT lead that stat with 74.9% and the runners up Centrals was second with 71.4%. Of all the meaningless statistics, this one doesn't seem to be as meaningless as the rest.

I'd imagine we've lost about 70% of our sources of goals from last year. Stating the obvious without, Spurr, Hayes, Callinan, Havelberg, Gunston, Henderson, O'sullivan and Obst we need to find goals. Available for this week we now have Chad, Westhoff, Hynes and maybe Henderson. Later in the year Hayes and maybe Obst. I think it may be time to try Lawton and maybe Chad and Westhoff (again). We scraped in against North and we're coming off a loss against Sturt. We need to kick a winning score. Defence is fine with Collier, Yves, Marschall, Templeton, Eddie and Goodrem.

To give us a chance, I'll tip west by 18 points.

And we've lost our main goal scorer this year in Menzel for a few weeks.

Our forward line is certainly a concern. Maybe we should play without one and hopefully confuse West.

I wonder whether the dogs will go very small to try and combat Wests height with Tippett, Hartlett and Fergusson

I would like us to make a few moves

Sibenaler has to go back to full back

Haydon out for Lawton/M.Westoff to come in.

Vater out for Chad O'Sullivan

We got SMASHED in the ruck so i would consider making the big call of playing the new ruckmen Josh Wilson in ruck for Waldhutter and then moving Hardy to full foward!!!

F: Lawton Hardy O'Sullivan
HF: Williams Templeton J.Gowans
C: Nason C.Gowans Symes
HB: Sansbury Collier Schiller
B: Marschall Sibenaler Goodrem

R: Hannath Thomas Boyd
INT: Wilson Dutschke O'Brien

I haven't included Henderson who may come into the side.

Justin Hardy successfully appealed his 1 match suspension and is now free to play for the Dogs in this game...
