3 knees before the age of 20 between them? Do you understand genetics? Put your biased crap away, and look at it from the POV of someone who doesn't care which club he comes from.

Bias has nothing to do with it, I'm just saying how it is.

Troy will be drafted top 20, recruiters will be aware of the knee injury and take that into consideration when drafting him but he will still get picked up. He is a very talented footballer and the people who matter will also take into consideration what club he comes from. Regardless of genetics, injuries can often come down to bad luck so if an AFL club choses to not recruit him based on that, they will miss out on a very good player.

Didn't say he isn't talented. Didn't say he won't get drafted. Just stated that whoever drafts him will be taking a huge punt on him staying on the park. It's knees, not hamstrings.

Nice edit once again.

I see what you are saying but wouldn't say it is a HUGE punt. A slight risk perhaps and as I mentioned, something they AFL clubs will look at and consider but probably wont be the make or break reason behind any decision about recruiting him or not.

I think TSG's point is fair BP .. No question young Menzel must have ability, but he's already injured one of the most dangerous pieces of anatomy for a footballer and his brother has twice .. No doubt clubs will be happy to select him, but it will push his position down I would have thought.

Regardless of where he's picked and by whom, I would hope he has a long and relatively injury free career ahead of him (as would be wished for all players)

Changed my mind with what I wanted to post, so changed it accordingly. Is there anything wrong with that? I'm sure you've done that before, haven't you?

Yeah, like I said, I agree to an extent with what TSG is saying and no doubt will be discussed when Troy's name comes up...

No doubt he would have excited the scouts down in Tassie today, kicking 9 (yes, it was against a Div 2 in Tasmania, but it is still a good game.)

Are there any stats from Champion Data (or anyone!) from this match?

I doubt he will go top 30, in a strong draft year a club would be crazy to use one of their first two picks on a player with a very questionable body, it's too big of a risk

But if you take that risk you might get a Joel Selwood, who a lot of people said was a risk due to a knee injury.

Just interviewed Balme on SEN, he thinks it's a genetic thing with the family, made it sound like they wouldn't consider drafting Troy

Perhaps. Or deflecting interest so Geelong actually get a chance to draft him.

Wouldn't trust any Club on the topic of drafting kids.

No, but I did read the following on the Eagles Facebook page...

"South Australia dominated the clash with Tassie from the outset, ticking over the 500-possession mark and going inside its forward 50 on a staggering 73 occasions."
