Can anyone add anything about that game?

We Were out played seemed like that they had 36 players on the field at times the pressure they put on had 4 to 1 at most contests
boys just seemed flat like all grades on the day but well done to disitricts now to concentrate on luthies after the break

I think Districts benefitted from the A and B grade getting some players back and thus filtering some players down to the C grade. Also they would have enjoyed the home ground advantage. Hope Valley looked to have some pretty decent players though.

I recon the 2nd half of the season will produce some tough contests with Valleys, Athelstone, Districts, Luthies, Portland and a few others gathering momentum towards the business end of the season. No doubt, The Jets will be the Hunted and with numerous Road Trips in the Back 9, tested BIG TIME!

Looking good for those who enjoy their footy.

Will be a big test for Districts this week against the Jets. Loking the their run home they have 7 out of 9 at home. Always handy having that type of run before finals time (if they make it).

Great to see the Portland boys back in the mix. Great bunch of guys out there doing good things down the club. I haven't heard much about Luthies (apart from the umpire being quite useless) but they will be one to watch by the looks of it.

Lutz. I have heard there are more to come back from injuries this week or even after the break who would slip straight back into the twos or even the ones. Surley the c grade coach will be rubbing his hands together thinking who he will be getting into his already strong looking side. Any names that are drifting between the grades that may drop down and do some damage in the c grade? Must be hard for the coaches picking the side out there at the moment from the numbers im hearing about.

Well I hope so, we were ravaged by injury in the first 5-6 weeks of the season and hopefully will start to get a few players back. The C grade coaches would be loving the selection dilemma they face, as it means they wont be forced to pick players who aren't training or who aren't financial. I'm not in a position to say who will be moving up or down through the grades, but I guess a couple may find themselves dropping down a grade.
But, as we all know, it is extrmely dificult to keep a C grade side somewhat similar from week to week. The side could be completely different this week, or next week, etc.

When a spectator rings the Sunday Mail and then doesn't want their name published makes me think someone is trying to cause trouble!

We played against Seaton in the A/B Grades, I rocked up at almost 12.30 expecting it to be almost quarter time of the 2s, but there was a still an ambulance on the field for a Seaton player, and another had just rocked up to treat a Lutheran player on the sideline with a busted face. I didn't see the actual fight but from what I was told by people from our club who were at the ground at the time, was that it was pretty extreme.

Mickey your from the ramblers. Pag just told us what happened when he rocked up. I doubt that this is just someone causing trouble. Do you have anything to add?

No as I didn't see the incident.

But the question still remains, if someone goes to the football, sees a melee, why is the 1st thing they do is ring the Sunday Mail???

The article does not actually say that anyone rang the sunday mail. The sunday mail were asking spectators what happened. So that would answer that question.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see as there were plenty if people who saw it so it wont stay hidden for too long.

No it doesn't say that anyone rang but I can positively tell you that is what happened. It will all come out Wednesday night at the tribunal.

What was "news worthy" on the weekend was the clash between The Unley Mercedes Jets and Port Districts at Kingswood Oval - A great C2 match worthy of the Triple Header crowd, with many astute judges saying what a great standard it was.

Districts came out strong, as you would expect and lead by 15 points at Half time. The Jets worked hard to kick 5 goals in the 3rd and were lucky Districts missed a few shots under pressure. Both sides featured good team work and quality running footy with some entertaining cameos - Districts Russell Martin was the Best Forward on the ground with 6 goals and the Young Jets were served well by former Sydney Swans player Jim West patrolling across Half Back. Great to see a Father and Son combo in the SAAFL - Jim's son Luke played well in the midfield, shadowing a quality opponent in Rod Smitheram, in the second half. The Young Jets eventually ran out winners, by 4 points. Two quality sides playing good hard footy. Now that's worth talking about. 8)
