Carlton Season 2012

Talk on the national game

Warnock and Hampson is not a good combination. They are both as lazy and slow as each other. They were always late to the contest and did not present at half forward where he were struggling. Kruzer may have at least provided a target.

Another thing is our crappy game plan. Go back to the old style where we would have blowouts. Playing wide did not do a thing for us, getting the ball on the 50 on the boundary line when you have no big forwards is pointless. We did not use the corridor once.

To top it off, Robinson starting at FF at the start of the 3rd pretty much summed up Ratten as a coach, USELESS.

plenty of other things pissed me off too.

Reckon Carlton played a bit too much dry whether football (too many handballs at times) against an opponent that was hungry to hunt them .. Too often they went into safe/defensive mode and lacked someone with the courage to break through a contest and launch a counter attack.

They have a soft underbelly that this season was first exposed by Essendon, then the Saints, further highlighted by the Crows and now Port have taken advantage of it too .. There's too much talent at Princes Park for them to not bounce back, but how much damage will be done before they do?

Their wins in between those losses against GWS and Melbourne weren't overly convincing either .. They need to start their resurgence pretty quickly.

Carrazzo,Murphy,Waite,Henderson,Duigan,Kreuzer,Laidler,Thornton, all missing last night gave good opportunities for the lesser guys to step up but no what a disaster....

full credit to port they were switched on from the first bounce more hungry and willing to do the hard stuff and the 1%ers that win you games....

we have way to many passengers at the moment with no game plan no heart no nothing with geelong, west coast, the bye, hawthorn, collingwood in our next 5 weeks thank god for the bye....

our season is gone and i cant see any way back this year to watch the way they played last night shows the coach has lost them i said 3 years ago ratts can not coach but he and kernahan are best mates so nothing will change....

ratts keeps on saying hpi's bla bla bla the best way to show your dissapointment from bad games is get back out their as soon as you can but the players must show you they support you and what your game plan is but we dont have one....

our last 2 wins have come against gws and melbourne which rang huge alarm bells for me as we only scrapped home the scoreboard in the end flattered us in both games....

so injuries aside guys as every team has them do you think im wrong about ratten???

Jarrad Waite, most overrated player ever. How can someone be so injury prone. In this draft we need to get KPP and lots of them.

We have no intensity around the ball, Judd is not the player he once was. Simpson has no inside grunt about him. Robinson at FF?, plenty of other problems as well.

Yarran didn't look right. One of Betts and Garlett needs to go.

Howzat, I'm not a Carlton fan so wouldn't know what goes on behind the scenes like you guys might, but Ratten would have to be in trouble wouldn't he? I would have thought a Prelim at absolute worst result, would be required to stay in charge depending on his contract situation? (how does that sit btw?)

Juddy is still a great player who can be damaging, but he seems to be declining a bit and he needs some serious help on the ball .. McLean has been pretty good in the past fortnight, and Robinson was a monster against Melbourne, but who else is putting their hand up? Carazzo is a decent player, but he's no top liner and if he's making this much difference, there is a bigger problem at play.

Where does Bryce Gibbs sit? If the decision is made that Ratten stays, then does Gibbs become a trade option? Because he certainly seems to be a bit lost with his footy at the moment.

Judd, Scotland, Simpson are key players but they're best footy isn't likely in front of them anymore .. And they seem to have a lot of blokes like Duigan, Curnow, Waite, Thorntan etc, who's best is good enough for them to play a role, but they don't effect the contest consistently enough.

Ratten wont be sacked with his best mate as President.

Are there any experienced coaches available who are willing to coach again? I think we have the cattle we just need some direction.

ratten is signed up until the end of 2013 m8 as to gibbs yeah certainly looks like he doesnt want to be at the blues but then again after last night im not sure any of em want to play....

our depth is crap because we spent so much money on guys that were supposed to be gun players but they seem happy to just put the hand out each week for payment and give nothing in return....

judd has been playing injured no doubt about that or it just may be his past injuries are catching up on him he cant run and break tackles like he used to....

were we can go from here time will tell but they need to drop these guys that dont play with heart only problem who can we bring in we have no good players in the vfl so they get a free ride....

Dont know about that Squids, IMO you can win a premiership without Judd but you cant win one without a Josh Kennedy type player

We have needed a KPF for years, we got Henderson but turned him into a CHB

Waite is a dud and Kruzer I am not too sure about.

IMO squids i think your pretty harsh on judd and betts. Concerning Judd, people are forgetting that since primus has looked at cornes as a tagger again, he has beaten Harvey, Ablett and Judd, 3 massive scalps for a bloke who i thought was headed to glenelg a month ago. Never underestimate the value of murphy and carazzo towards judd bursting a game open single handedly.

Betts- Surjan absolutely destroyed him last night i thought in probably his best game for port. Was just completely relentless in ensuring betts got no where near the footy. Betts needs a big bloke around the sticks with garlett snapping at the toes. Carlton had none of this last night, releasing surj to concentrate solely on betts as no kruezer and waite, and garlett pushing up field to help out a midfield that was all night 2nd to the footy.

Doesnt solve your issues but just highlighting what a few key injuries can do to the structure of your side. Port experienced this without schulz against richmond and freo.

I agree re Malthouse, I would expect the Blues to make him a massive offer in the next year or so.

Whether he accepts though is another thing though obviously.

I would personally be surprised if Gibbs was put up for trade, although perhaps if some super trades involving for example Cloke and/or Boak (although I hope not!) happen, it could happen.

My biggest surprise from last night was the lack of impact from the indigenous small forwards.

Also think the Blues really missed Kreuzer who has performed very, very well in the past against Port.
