sa.footy Awards

Postby Moe » Thu May 31, 2012 11:44 pm

I am not sure if the idea has ever been floated before, but I was wondering if the idea has ever been put forward to having a mass gathering of safooty forum members together for an awards/piss up night?
It is obvious that alot of members know each other through SANFL games, and friendships, but does the idea of having a large gathering of like minded sports enthusiasts in the one environment appeal to anyone?
I for one, who only really know the identities of a few mates from my club, plus a few from ASCA rivals, would love to meet some of the more prolific wrters and characters on the forum, even if it was just to put a face to the name.
People like Reb, MAL, CENTURION, Physber, Bum Crack, Moe & Big Phil to name a few, would surely be worth meeting.(And would probably be a let down ;) ).

Does anyone else think this idea has merit?

I have the facility for it, and the bar capacity. :partyman: :drinkers: :prayer:

Thoughts.......

I'd be all for it, as long as HOORAY PUNT and holden78 come along ;)

These things have tried to be organised in the past but for some reason, never eventuate...

Count me in though if something can get be arranged...

What do you mean Big Phil ?

There was a SA Footy quiz night back in 2005 done just before the SANFL Grand Final,

It was at Woodville held on a Friday Night, raised money for Royal Society For The Blind.

I think about 70 people turned up, raised about $1,000 ..... memory a bit hazey about this one now.

There has also been talk of catch ups on Grand Final day at AAMI but nothing every set in stone.

It's an idea in it's infancy.
My venue holds 200-220 cocktail.
No booking fee at West Beach.
I am the bar manager.
Could be a Friday night, no Crow game, no SaNFL game.
Cheap booze, $5 cover charge for finger food.
Speech made by senior SA footy writer.

Ideas for awards: Best post, worst post, biggest dummy spit, most smilies used :D :) :( :o  .

Please add to the awards if you want.

I can make a date, and we can advertise it.
If noone turns up, then I stand at the bar with Homer, Barney, Karl & the other bloke on my own. Costs me nothing.

I will give it a week, and take it from there.

Could be HUGE, could be a FLOP. No harm in trying.

Like I say, count me in. If it is a Friday night, might have a day off annual leave and play a round of golf at the Pat during the day beforehand :)

Yes.
Booney is the guy handcuffed.
Reckon the gut next to him is Big Phil.
Next is Madrooster, and the guy peering over his shoulder is Adelaide Bank.

Sounds good to me. As long as Centurion lays off the red wine!

I think we should hold it in Thailand though!

The AH's should have their own tables - that should take up half the venue!

Centurion and Wedgie can compete for the "drunky the clown" award!
