Round 10 vs. Carlton

Postby valleys07 » Thu May 31, 2012 1:28 pm

Sneaky chance against the bluebaggers? i think so!

We werent absolutely brilliant against Gold Coast and took 3 quarters to get rid of them, but the difference in game plan against north and the suns, compared with richmond and freo has me upbeat that we are headed somewhere. The past 2 weeks we have seen fast running footy, and yes it yields mistakes from time to time, but i enjoyed watching us play for a change.

Carlton are under the pump massively and only overran melbourne in the last quarter......they have a good record here but waite IMO is a costly loss for their structure.

Anybody heading down for this one? im looking forward to a sat night game, havent been to one in a while!

Carn the power!!!

I'm hoping to make it to this one.

We're a chance, although I would expect a Carlton victory.

I've been traumatised by recent home games against Carlton, the pattern being we stopped in the last quarter. A couple we have had leads, the one where they kicked about 7 goals to none in the last quarter, with Kruezer dominating, is still clearly in my mind. Amazingly enough was around the same time as our Brisbane cllapse that year which was just as horrible.

Judd usually caves us up. Murphy being out shoudl help us, whilst Gibbs isn't in great form at the moment.

I'll Carlton by 17 points.

Might not have to worry about judd GWW, with matty primus flicking through pre 2005 footage and realising that kane cornes is useful as a tagger, his shut down jobs on harvey and ablett have gone a long way to helping us get 2 wins. Id expect cornes to head to judd and our midfield may break even with them if we can keep robinson under control.

Despite the rain and chill, I really enjoyed the game last night.

Hartlett was fantastic with his 3 goals, Thomas' aggression was crucial, and Brad Ebert was great as well.

Thought the defence stood up too and Carlile is showing considerably better form compared to last season.

The North Melbourne comeback has clearly boosted our confidence and we haven't panicked the last 2 weeks when we have had a lead in the last quarter and our opposition kicked early goals.

We are still turning the ball over on occasion, but in recent weeks we have been much stronger at the contest.

Gradually moving away from the Choco era, and some of the poor traits we developed in his time as coach, especially post 2007.

Look forwqrd now to how we carry on with this momentum, and in the short term I hope we can be competitive against Hawthorn this week.

Competitive ???

As a Port Adelaide supporter, i'd expect to win against Hawthorn this week not just be competitive. Hawthorn are no different to any other team, put them under enough pressure for long enough they'll crack like they did against Sydney a few weeks ago.

Yeah I know mate, I do hope for a win, but am trying to keep a lid on it.

If we play at our absolute best and they have a down game we can certainly win.

But I don't want to say I'm expecting a win, because I don't, as much as it would be great.
